Taylor is not doing any ES retrofits right now. They might in the future. One of the requirements they said a guitar needs to get a retrofit is to have the NT (New Technology) neck. Basically any 300 series or higher Taylor, made on or after the year 2000. So the 214 is not eligible. The 2003 summer limited 300 & 400 series come with the ES. ES comes standard on all XXXCE models 500 series and higher. You can read all about it on the Taylor Website

when I went on the tour of taylor we got to see a guitar with not back with the ES and it is amazing. They use magnets in some gel stuff to detect vibration and then there is a pickup inside the neck which is why you have to have the new generation neck. Amazing.............

Expression System

I may purchase a Taylor 214. I would like to put electronics in it. How much would it cost to get the Expression System put into it? Guitar + Expression, I mean...?

i'm not sure they'd even do that. you'd have to ask a certified taylor dealer, or where you're getting your Taylor.

I don't think anyone, including any retailer, can purchase a ES alone. I think you need to just buy a guitar that has it. Not positive, but I think thats how it is, for now at least.

just go for the 3 series...probably cheaper than adding an ES (if that were possible)...

you cant get ES in a 214. even though it is essentially a 214 it does not have the NT neck which is required by ES.

even though that was directed to fire-

i love playing through the ES. very wonderful sound...but faulty too. it depends on the guitar...some guitar's system's work great, others are shitty. i'd ask to plug it in first, on various amps to see how it sounds...i haven't had any problems with mine at all.

well to be honest, I am having trouble with getting my guitar to sound right plugged in...most angelic unplugged, but gets bland when it is plugged in...I am still playing around with it...even the XLR plug makes a huge difference, so I cannot fully say...play it and see HOW IT SOUNDS TO YOU

Hmm, i checked on the taylor site last night, and it stated that 3 and 4 series both had fishman pickups, and ES started with the 5 (with the exception of limiteds). Was I looking at the wrong thing?

Is it just me, or is the original post, 3 posts down from the top now??? That looks real screwed up.
