Well it spends most of its time in its case so I dont think the humidity is a problem. Apparently it's just lacquer check. I'm gonna keep an eye on it.

sorry to see that man, i use 60 mil tortex's and strum extremely hard and i've worn some deep gashes below my pick guard :/.

what kind of guitar is this? I know some makers use decals for their rosettes.

Fatjack, sure he's THIS concerned about his guitar, if a crack just develops it could be a sign of bigger problems.

buy a hygrometer to read the humitity of your guitar case and a humidifier if your humitity is low. i recommend you do this, if it is an expensive guitar there is no reason why you shouldnt pay 70 bucks for a hygrometer and humidifier just to be safe.
