I wish more professional singers (in bands) TOOK singing lessons ...

Bono did for years ... Don't know if he still does.

Athletes have coaches, why wouldn't musicians have teachers?

Very few bands that I listen to consist of trained singers, ah the beauty of rock and roll :)

As long as you're not tone deaf, you CAN sing with instruction and proper technique.

I have a book/CD written by this guy. He apparently teaches many established vocalists.

Roger Love has often been called the Voice Coach to the Stars. For over twenty years he has been helping to build some of the most successful talents in the entertainment and business worlds. His work with recording artists in the studio has resulted in over 100 million album sales worldwide. When Roger was 16 years old, he was already the singing coach for The Beach Boys, Earth, Wind, & Fire, the 5th Dimension, and The Jacksons. Since then he has continued to teach some of the most famous singers in the world , including the hit groups Matchbox 20, Eminem , Three Dog Night, Chicago, Scorpions, Mandy Moore, Papa Roach, Wilson Phillips, Def Leppard, Robbie Robertson, Bernie Taupin, Billy Idol, Motley Crue, Poison, Hanson, Phish, Al Jarreau, Lisa Marie Presley, and Iggy Pop. He has also trained actors and celebrities such as Alicia Silverstone, Essai Morales, Martin Landau, Carla Cugino, Victoria Principal, Marla Gibbs, Stefanie Powers, Elvira, Janine Turner, John Stamos, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Milla Jovovitch, Tyra Banks, Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen, Christopher Lambert, and celebrity speakers such as John Gray (Men Are From Mars, Women Are from Venus), Dr. Laura Schlessinger, Suze Orman, and Anthony Robbins. As well as top ranked radio hosts like Mike Reagan, Bill Handel, and Phil Hendrie.

Eminem?!?!?! All he does is talk really loudly. Is that singing really? :?

As for singing lessons, I doubt Dave did. He probably just did his own thing. If he did get singing lessons his voice probably would be different then it is.

I know he had a vocal coach. Is that the same as a teacher. I either got that from 'Step into The Light" or the other book about DMB.
