Lover Lay Down chorus help

Unread post by dmbS0MuchT0Say » Thu Aug 11, 2005 1:15 am

Code: Select all

E:---------------------------------------
B:-2-2--3-3-------5---------3-2----------
G:-2-2--4-x----4--4----4-4--x-x----7--7--
D:-2-2--2-4----2--2----5-5--x-x----7--7--
A:-------------x--x----x-x--2-2----x--x--
E:-----------4-4--4----3-3--3-3--7-7--5--
I can play the chorus perfectly except for these two chords(32xx3 and 32xx2). Everytime I come to that chord I pause for a couple of seconds because it is so awkward for me to hold. i know im holding it with the correct fingers but i just cant get it down. Even if i do get it fast and smooth my 3rd finger is ussually muting the A string. I just wanted to know if there was another chord that i can play that wont sound to different instead of this one to make it a lot easier. thanks.

The best advice i could give if you want to play dave songs the way he does, then learn it his way and if you want to learn them the best way, then dl a dave solo version of the song. Sorry that was a long sentence.....(im high :P )

edit

I just noticed i didn't mention loverlaydown at all in that long sentence. The chorus is def. the hardest part of the song.

Just play 3xxx3- then 3xxx2- The key there is the 3->2 on the B string

your def right, aslong as i have that 3->2 on the b string it still sounds good. thank you Kanter, this will be much easier. Also, i thank you for making this site. if i didnt have your tabs and this community i wouldnt be nearly as good as i am today. a donation will be coming, you really deserve it for all the work you did. i cant wait for the new site either.

This happens to me as well, I'll try just 2 strings, but I think this happens because when I play a G chord I use my index fingure instead of middle, ring, and pinky. I think once I can can play G the right way it will be easier. Hope that helps

I play my G chords with my index finger too like you said, i do think that is definately part of it why the chord is such a pain for me. The way i play a G chord is 320033 instead of 320003 and using my ring finger on the 3rd fret E String. The way i learned it first is not wrong because for some songs the 320033 is better but it is really good to be able to play both ways because for a lot of dave songs its better to play it the other way.

Boy is that a sad story.......

I had tickets for all three nights, my parents in law bought them for my wife and i''s aniversary present. Well, we are getting a divorce now and so i don't get the tickets, this will be the first time i haven't seen them play at the gorge in like 4 years
A shitty sidenote, i also was going to see tom petty there in sept. but i lost access to those tickets as well.
So no, i won't be there.
