Yes, I did come off as a dick. I apologize. But I do not apologize for calling into question statements that have the factual basis, or grossly resemble what falls out of a bull's turd-shooter on an hourly basis. But hell..dont take my word for it b-blat, call Bob fucking Taylor and ask him. Call James Goodall. Call that Bob Collosi guy that makes saddles. I'll bet they will staunchly disagree with the poo that just tumbled out of your pie-hole. ...dick.
No you don't. I'm not a luthier, and don't claim to be. I also have never claimed to be a fountain of information, and in fact in the first sentence of my post clarified that my information might be incorrect given the fact that I am neither a luthier nor God. You, however, seem to feel that you are Him.
u suck, baldalaura is right....u make no sense and now your eating crow. think before u post, or at least learn to "speak" guitar....

thanks for backing me up baldalaura
wtf?

do you not speak english or something? he makes perfect sense. Brock brings more than his share to the table of informaiont. Brock is one of more humble guys on the boards. He clarifies he might be wrong on anything he has doubts on. You on the other end, along with baldalaura, don't make sense. You guys are just dumbasses. Do the world a favor and just end your lives

And the advantage of 10 cents to $1 when the price is upwards of $3500 is not clear, sorry. I'm not one to just make things up, what I said above is based off of years of knowledgeable people telling me the same. But, uh... don't let that knock you off your high horse.
No, you're wrong about all of it, bbat. And you obviously do not have knowledgable friends. I was told, I was told, I was told. Fine, I was told the moon was made out of giraffe leather, that's what my knowledgable buddyfriend told me! Next time do your research. Call up Martin and ask why they put such crappy inconsistent bone needing big setups in every 18 series and above. While you're at it ask Larrivee, Santa Cruz, Collings, Goodall and a whole pile of others. Obviously theu must know something your knowledgable people dont about the use of bone and other natural materials for saddles. Either that or they are all plain stupid.
You're incredibly rude. Get ready for Brock to own you.
He might have been rude but he's right about the use of bone in high end guitars.

That's fine, but there was definitely a nicer way to go about sharing that information. On his first post he comes off as a complete dick.

brock, i have nothing against you, and im not standing up for these guys or anything, but sometimes you can come off like a know-it-all and perhaps a little rude too...

i never wanted to say it cuz these message boards are sort of clicky... and just by saying this im sure a lot of people wont like me, but i dont know i know your a smart guy (u know your computers i know that!! :) ) but sometimes u come off sort of stubborn and like your always right...

again its just more of like a suggestion. I'm not saying im perfect. Hell I am wrong all the time and you have been sure to correct me

Well, let's bring this thread back onto topic.

I'm interested in some thoughts by people who actually know stuff about guitars. This DC Trey Anastasio guitar...what do you guys think the possibility of this guitar going up in price will be? Like if I buy it for $3,000...would I be able to sell it in lke 5yrs for $6,000???

T714 and others...thoughts? I am seriously thinking about buying this guitar as an investment that I will get plenty of use out of before I would need the $$$ back.

kanter,
it's not a bad guitar, and never do u see a d-28 with a cutaway unless it is a special order. as many are picking up on, it's similar to the dm3md, appearance wise, but the construction will make sound a lot different. i think elderly music http://www.elderly.com is taking orders for it...

as far as an investment piece, it might not be a bad idea...i never knew my DM3MD would double it's list price in only 5 years...i bought my DM3MD for $2400, and i have seen them go as high as $5400...not bad...but again, it's a real big gamble... since phish is done and over with, there's not much to say about their popularity having an influence, either positive or negative...again, the specs on the guitar look promising, but unless you are gonna play the thing like crazy and enjoy it, there's no point and buying the guitar and keeping it vaulted in it's case for 6 years...cause afterall, you want the condition to be as close to mint as possible...

i want to mention something off topic but related....one thing a lot of people assume too is that the DM3MD can be made by Martin as a custom order, just without dave's signature and chris martin's signature...they can do something similar, but not an exact DM3MD...

after talking to Martin Customer Service, you have to make at least 3 structural changes to the guitar...so, instead of engelmann top, u might get a sitka top...then u might want to have the braces not-scalloped, and of course, you could make the back and sides brazilian rosewood instead of E.I. rosewood...so, needless to say, custom ordering a DM3MD copy would be pointless, considering that you have to change tonewoods and appointments, and that would drive the cost up considerably, change the look of the guitar, and of course, alter it's sound from the original...

Buying the guitar as an investment is risky at best. It's just tough to gauge what the demand for a particular instrument will be in the future. I wonder what percentage of the Martin sig models had their values increase (ala the DM3MD).
