i think its like if your hands are dry that particular day, then they might 'squeak' (im assuming you mean that wierd noise when you slide on the wound strings)j_towery3 wrote:How the crap do you play last stop without your fingers squeeking on the strings like crazy?!?!

no one will ever make it sound like dmb anyway. last stop is one of those songs where dave could put his guitar down and it would sound just as good. not really for acoustic one person groups.PureDaveAddict wrote:however good last stop might sound good when dave plays it, i can never get it down, it just seems like shooting in the dark for the right fret. I always miss the correct note by a fret or two

Also, dave obviously slides, and doesn't lift his fingers completley of the strings. I can do it, and it sounds too sticato. I am sure he has his arangments on his Line 6 POD (I knew he was playing playing through one at some time recently, it said it on the main site at one time). If not the pod (I have a pod pro in my rack, love it) he must have some other effect to get rid of it.
Yes, I am in a box

tim is a big fan of having the recording and his live sound be just like sitting in front of him without any mics or pickups involved.. so to him, the squeaking of string and all that "miscalleneous" sound is ideal. I happen to agree. Others and most sound engineers making major albums these days would disagree and they compress and EQ the hell out of an acoustic get rid of all the "natural" character.. even on stage it is the case with any major act, anymore
