Long Time Debate Answered
Alpine can say whatever they want, but the only thing that they ever get is a really good solid set. That's nice and all, but I'll take the gorge or this year red rocks. That's where they bust out the shockers. Hell, even MSG gets more surprises. The chance of hearing something crazy is pretty low at Alpine.
We (Alpine) didn't say anything. The DMB crew said it on behalf of the band on the road page of the official DMB site. Plus I'd say that the last 2 years, Alpine has had the best set list of the tour. We'll see what happens the rest of the tour, but as of now Alpine has the best set. I agree about Red Rocks and the Gorge, something special could come out there, but it depends on the rest of the set. If they play JTR and have a set full of I Did It, Don't Drink The Water, etc. then the set loses some credibility as being special.

I just meant all the people saying "nah nah, he likes us best." Not necessarily in this thread, but all over the community.DMB_DO wrote:We (Alpine) didn't say anything. Alpine does have some very good shows almost every time they play there. No greats yet though.

I actually agree with this. After Dave teased #40 I turned to my girlfriend and said something along the lines of "They better play that shit. Considering they say this is their favorite place to play we don't get too much in the way of shocking or special songs." And it's true. #40 was pretty special, though, and Superfreak last year was the shit, but for the most part solid sets are all we can depend on. Not that there's anything wrong with that! But I want to be shocked and awed.mbgreen wrote:Alpine can say whatever they want, but the only thing that they ever get is a really good solid set. Really though, how can anyone have more than one favorite?fortyoneantz wrote:they have a bunch of favorite places to play. i know SPAC is one of them.
I know that by definition, favorite is not but it really should be a superlative.
Like how girls have 19 "best friends" ... Makes no sense to me. Are they part of an anarcho-syndicalist clique? Do they take turns being best friend for the week? Do all decisions of that best friend then have to be approved at a bi-weekly meeting by a simple majority in the matter of purely internal affairs ... But by a two-thirds majority in the case of more major ...

Duly noted, but that doesn't make it any less shocking, suprising or special.checkii wrote:dude, superfreak was just a timing thing, had nothign to do with the venue.littlefriend420 wrote:I actually agree with this.
