So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

is it me or is the tripping billies verse a bitch to learn?
ive worked my ass off on that sob, and yet still i dont have it. i mean i can play the intro fine so its not the stretch i think its just the quickness of changing. are there any suggestions on what i could do to quicken my chord switches? or what do ya'll think might be wrong if anything.

Dunno, I learn the verse in about 30 minutes. I play fast songs really well. I pick up solos faster than I pick up chord changes. Although I would say it was one of the harder ones i've learned because of the stretch. It took me longer to learn the intro than the verse.

It took me a long time to get it, it just takes LOTS of practice.

i cant get the rhythm of the nature intro right for some reason but i can get all of the changes easy.
I can play every note of the verse, but i cant get it to sound like dave, it just sounds kind of cluster fucky.

i would try it and realize i couldn't do it and quit. then 2 months later i would come back to it. i did this about 4 times and finally the last time i came back, i got it in like 5 or 10 min. if it's beyond you skill-wise, just move on and come back. you'll know when it's a good time to learn it cause it'll come easy to you.

My advice would be to watch storytellers. You want to try and nail that fluid hand motion Dave has during the verse. I think if you can play the intro then you can play the verse. It's the same stretch and stuff just with a little more thrown in.

I struggled so much and then do what you just said and voila! It clicked getting his hand motions down and such.

I dunno, for some reason that song clicked with me pretty well... But I would say that you should practice individual string plucking. I started by playing normal chords, but instead of strumming, I picked at the strings.

the vaginal fluid they are secreting is the same composition of urine minus the uric acid and phosphorous. i learned that in 11th grade anatomy. btw, sometimes it does have a FAINT smell of Pizzle.

The stretch is still a bitch for me and my sausage link fingers. I don't even want to think about the speed of the changes yet. I'm getting there, but it still hurts and takes a second to set up the fingering. Some day...

Very good adive there, all i would throw in is to learn the verse at a much slower pace. Just break it completely down till its note for note and then just gradually speed it up as you see fit until you get it down. I struggled with the verse for soo long you don't want to know, then someone came along and mentioned slowing it down and from then on i can learn any song i want as long as i break it up and slow it down.

Billies is by far the greatest dave song to play on an acousitc in the sun 8-)

i had some trouble w/ this song too...just try to slow it down very much and play all w/ downstrokes (except the final mute...but dont play it at the beginning, try to play just the main notes)...
i'd do a slow clip, but i broke my damn A string yesterday :(
i think some folks here can do that...

because the verse is just playing straight through, the timing is different for the chorus. if you know what i mean

The verse is played just as it is sung(?). You can totally tell....
"we were above......you were standing......underneath us.....we were not yet lovers....la laaa...etc. I swear most of daves songs are like this i.e. so much to say, lover lay down, tons more.
