The rythym on JTR is off between the singing and playing it seemed like me, especially in the beginning. The singing is alright.

I think the words on the stone are off from the playing too. These aren't the easiest songs to play and sing at the same time. Maybe try playing alone with the CD or something. Either that or get really good at playing it slow is what I do.

overall, not a bad effort and the most glaring defect is the rythym.

Are you serious? If there was anything more confident about it was the rhythm in both of those songs... maybe the guitar isn't loud enough... and some parts in JTR were off on purpose... the rain, rain part... and at the end I messed up once because I forgot to breathe earlier in the verse...

I've listened and played along with The Stone from the charlie rose show over 200 times... I find it hard to believe that my rhythm is miscalculated to the extent that you seem to believe it is.

I hear what raif is saying, its a little off in parts, but not a huge deal, just because you cover it doesnt have to be dead on, if i wanted to hear the original id grab the lillywhite sessions. my only complaint would be that the vocals need some work, you sound too whispery for my liking but thats my opinion.

good work overall.

edit - JTR was much better than The Stone

i really enjoyed your cover of grace is gone - it really fit the style of your voice, and the guitar is dead on. However, I'd love to hear your voice more in JTR and the stone, it'd be cool if you did versions of the songs that had the vocals up in volume a bit. You have a cool voice - be proud, man! :D

I think a lot of it is my recording environment... I got a shitty 15$ USB mic that is sitting on top of my desk, in a couple weeks I'ma grab me one of those 200$ interfaces and try one of them out. I have a Shure mic and a fishman matrix II installed, so maybe when I get all this up and running I can post some better stuff.

I have to admit though, I'm very shy of my voice, and I've never played in front of anyone before... well I've played guitar but not sang. I've never had any lessons and I've just recently started singing, most of my practice comes when I'm driving around in my car. I took one of those like interview recording tapes and stuck it in my car and listened to me sing along w/ DDTW & the L@LC version of Say Goodbye and I sure belted out some of that stuff, and I thought it sounded pretty good. I think the reason I'm so shy, is because when I first started playing I recorded a 2 layer track of the stone and I had never really sung before and posted it on some gaming forums. It really WAS a horrible recording and the feedback of about 20 people definitely affirmed it was, but I was so excited that I could actually record music that I really care... this was like only a month after the first time I picked up a guitar. Anyway I'm gonna mess around with some stuff and try to sing more like the way I do when I'm alone and nobody's in the house and see how that sounds. Thanks for the input guys :)
