Interesting thought
Anyone think that maybe with the australian tour immediatly followed by promo for stand up that the rehersal time for this tour was shorter and they were working hard on the stand up songs and a few others, that when we got to the tour they only had a handfull of songs to play? now that we are getting into the tour more they are bustin out old stuff and mixing it up after some time to get back into things... anyone think this might be true?

how long have they been playing ants, satellite, stjl, warehouse, billies, two step, osw, recently, etc...?
I really dont think they need that much rehearsal to get on point. And even so, if they didnt have time to practice the songs before the tour, how are they going to find time in the midst of a tour to practice them?
I dunno, maybe I missed the point but it just didnt make sense to me.

you're joking right? The name soundcheck refers to the musicians playing their instruments and the sound guys adjusting levels to make sure everything sounds spot on. Its not a practice of any sort...maybe a warm up.i am sam2 wrote:soundcheck...checkii wrote:how long have they been playing ants, satellite, stjl, warehouse, billies, two step, osw, recently, etc...?

how is it not practice? would you not say playing a song, yet not in front of the audience, is practice? they played what you are at soundcheck two shows before they debuted the song. im pretty sure there is a reason for that: they practiced the song.BigSpeen3436 wrote:you're joking right? I take it you've never been to/seen a soundcheck. They're not at all a practice - the sound engineers will tell you to stop every 10 seconds for the first 20 minutes or so as they tweak every setting, and only then will you be allowed to play full songs, although they're usually truncated, and never more than one or two, and they're for the sole purpose of ensuring that the sound is consistent across a wide variety of songs.i am sam2 wrote:how is it not practice? would you not say playing a song, yet not in front of the audience, is practice? they played what you are at soundcheck two shows before they debuted the song. im pretty sure there is a reason for that: they practiced the song.BigSpeen3436 wrote:you're joking right? i stand corrected. i thought they played through songs/jams and the technicians just tried to work stuff out as it went along, finally checking it to make sure.bbatsell wrote:I take it you've never been to/seen a soundcheck. but if they dont practice songs at soundcheck, then when do they practice a song they havent played all tour? do you think they just go out there and play ants marching cold turkey, without having played it in however long it was from the start of the tour until they debuted it?

yeah but when did that have the time for several weeks for rehersal?bbatsell wrote:Well, for the 2003 tour I believe, they rented out a stadium in Virginia Beach right by where Danny lives and practiced there daily for several weeks before the tour started if I remember correctly. I'd assume that they do something similar before every tour.

yeah but still...do you know if they had time like that before this tour? if not...wouldnt it have to be true that they are either playin the songs cold turkey or are practicing them at soundcheck ?bbatsell wrote:I was answering the question from above me.
