Raven: Mere shadow of its former self

The lyrics, in short, went to shit. Non-believers click on the following links:

Raven Lyrics 9-15-00

Raven Lyrics 9-6-00

My two favorite versions.

I liked the way the lyrics used to be pretty much all improv, on the spot. The whole priest-boy thing Dave's had going ever since busted stuff doesnt do it for me. Its exactly the same every time now, and there just doesnt seem to be as much, well, disgust and emotion in his voice when Dave sings it. Feel free to discuss/disagree/whatever.

And btw, if anyone wants mp3's of either or both of these two versions, pm me and we can set it up over aim (theyre too large for me to host through my school account)

Personally I had no idea that the lyrics to Raven were ever that good, but reading over those lyrics made me wish Dave played it more often. What a great song.

2000 Raven's were mindblowing...musically, they really nailed it on BS I think...it was very authoritative, it needed another instrumental chorus thing at the end like on LWS and '00, plus good lyrics. BS lyrics are disgustingly bad. He should be shot for what he did to that song. 9/15/00 Raven is just mad off the hook. Amen. VIVA LA REVOLUCION!!!

I'm not really around to know. I talked to him last a year ago when Busted Stuff came out. We ripped on the album together. Man, I miss that guy. He made the boards fun. We got banned that one night for topping all the old threads on DMBML...ahhhh...those were the days.
