Come and dance with me
Come and dance with me
Hey guys. So, as some of you know, my first Dave show was on 6.4.05. Anyway, he played Everyday there, and I was wondering if any of you could give me a little history on the part the crowd sings: "Honey Honey..... Come And Dance With Me"
Just kinda how it got started and whatever.
Thx
Rick

Everyday is a sort of finished version of the song, "#36". #36 is about Chris Hani an South African activist who was murdered and Dave wrote the song in honor of him. So originally the lyrics were "Hani, Hani....come and dance with me." However, Dave changed it in the mid 90's to make it more of a love song and it become "Honey, Honey". The crowd sings that part at the end because its just fun to do and I think a lot of people want them to scrap Everyday and just bring back #36.

I'm not saying they're the same word, but honestly, they're not that different. They sound basicly the samebbatsell wrote:If you pronounce Hani (H?-n?) like honey (H?-n?), then you need a lesson in phonetics.DMBFan63 wrote:Honey and Hani sound the exact same when pronounced..

Sweet. That's what I really like about Dave. So many of his songs have a much deeper underlying meaning. Thanks for the history lesson.Nitro1515 wrote:Everyday is a sort of finished version of the song, "#36". #36 is about Chris Hani an South African activist who was murdered and Dave wrote the song in honor of him.
