Funny how things change...

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Funny how things change...

Today I learned how to play watchtower, and even though it is really easy and took me all of 10 minutes to get down, it was funny cuz I remembered months ago I was trying to learn it and I thought it was really hard for some reason. But now when I did it today I got it down like nothing. I just thought it was really funny cuz it was only a few months ago but I guess guitar just works that way. Sometimes you just can't get it but then you come back to it and it comes easier to you than anything.

Just a thought. Anyone else experience this when playing any of Dave's songs or other songs in general???

All the time. Sometimes the brain just needs time to process what you theoretically know into practical knowledge.

i think the weirdest thing is when you learn how to play a song and it comes really easy. then you forget it, so u go back to relearn it and its hard and you just cant seem to get it.

I think this might be in the wrong forum.

Anyway, that happens to me sometimes too. Tripping Billies was really difficult until I finally found a video to get the rythym down. Then I got it.

when i first learned guitar i had the same problem with watchtower, but like you said, easy now obviously

my problem is sometimes singing with songs, took forever to be able to sing with the stone, but its fine now - and although i haven't tried that much, i can't for the life of me sing with louisiana bayou yet, but i'm sure if i put in some practice it'll be fine

for the longest time i was like that with playing say goodbye and singing halloween. then one day say goodbye just clicked and i was playing it, and i was done and was like, whoa, cool. and right after that just went into halloween for fun, and ended up singing the entire thing(picturing a not liked female the entire time, improving lyrics, etc etc, no screaming though) and was just like, ok, not too bad. when that happens it's fun.
hosting the oscars is like winning the heisman trophy. no matter how you do in the ballgame, or whatever, they can't take it away from you. and even if you kill your wife and an ex-waiter, they still have a hard time taking it away from you

same thing happened to me that happened to dino. Tried forever to get the stone down. Practiced it solid for like two weeks, then gave up on it. Came back to it a couple weeks later and just crushed it singing along with most of the song too. It felt so good so I know how you are feeling. Even though I still mess it up here and there even now, I know that I can do it and that helps the confidence.

-Cor
