Ants Marching

Unread post by borocks » Mon Aug 25, 2003 3:29 pm

I recently noticed that hardly nobody has covered this song. It's a great song but not easy to play. I had to concentrate on the guitar while playing, so the vocals might surely not 100%.

Have a listen and give me a short feedback.

Peace, Bo

Well i'm listening to it. And its very good. the only criticism is the mutes after the D and the G. It sounds like you're hitting the G and the D three times instead of muting. You gotta mute them. it gives it a great sound for the song. But other than that, Great. I wish i could hit those high notes when i sing this song.I can only sing the verses and the firt part of "and all the little ants...."

Great job borocks. Well done!

Sounds good man! It is nice to see an Ants cover up here for a change up from all of the other typical songs.

sounds great...little fast for me, but meh :)
are you trying to sound like Dave?
if so, don't...the better voice is the natural...
you hit the falcetto pretty well ;)
slow it down a tad and let your voice be natural...it might take a while to work out the vocal kinks, but it is so much more fun than listening to Dave =)

kudos

I actually use my voice kinda like Dave, maybe it sounds like copying him but it sounds always like that more or less. Even when I sing songs in german, or italian or whatever. Dave might had a influence when I was developping my style but, it's 'just' an influence.
Ants is not easy to sing, that might be the reason that it sounds to you a bit unnatural. But as mentioned before, I had to concentrate on the guitar playing, because I still need more exercise to play that verse riff w/o looking down...

Pretty good job...I listened to both ants and bowa, and there was really only one thing that I think you need to pay attention to when playing: Your tempo. One of the hardest parts about playing is not playing too fast. Both of these songs sounded rushed. Play right to the point where you think youre playing too slow, and thats the right tempo. But good job...ants is a bit tougher than most people would admit.

another good one man. you're spitting them out too fast for me to thionk of new stuff to say :D . another good job on vocals. you know how you get that squinch when you know a high note is coming up and you're not sure if someone can hit it, but man...you hit them. good job

the guitar was a little fast. probablly wanna look downloading a metronome or something. but other than that. great job.

What's the best way to get the right speed and to keep it through the song?

practice...work on getting the feeling of the song...if you don't tap a foot (I don't), you can always just bounce a leg to keep in the flow of the song...but mainly...practice :)
