Possible Segues!?!

Unread post by NJPearce22 » Wed Jun 15, 2005 9:22 pm

I think that the band could do some new segues in the near future to spice up some of the setlists. A few that I think would work well would be:

Hello Again --> Halloween (tease) --> Hello Again (reprise)
Stand Up --> So Right
Hunger For The Great Light --> (Carter solo) --> Say Goodbye
Jimi Thing --> What Will Become of Me --> Pantala Naga Pampa --> Rapunzel
Lie In Our Graves --> American Baby Intro (Jam) --> American Baby --> Lie In Our Graves (reprise)

Those are my ideas. The last one would be sweet...the band doing the normal LIOG jam and switching to the intro by using the coordinating chords:

Code: Select all

e--------------------------
b--------------------------
g--7----11----2-----4------
d--------------------------
a--x-----x----x-----x------
E--7----10----2-----3------
...then go straght to AB and let there be a slight pause (20-30 secs) then "I can't believe..." It'd be sick!!!

Well...what other cool segues do you think the band could pull of to make things interesting?[/code]

This one is unrealistic, but I always thought it would sweet to tease with PNP then not to rapunzel then go back to it...for example:

PNP-> Granny -> PNP (new lyrics) ->Busted Stuff -> PNP (jammed out a bit)-> Rapunzel

Im not a guitarist so I'm sure the tunings and chord progressions are ridiculous so spare me, I think it would be cool though.

I think that Die Trying has a lot of segue potential.
Could go YMDT--->Ants with the sweet violin outro leading into carters snare drums. YMDT-->Warehouse would be sweet as well as
YMDT-->The Stone.

I don't think the Jimi Thing - WWBOM - PNP - Rapunzel segue would work since WWBOM has the same chords as PNP so that would sound pretty repetitive to play it back to back.

I play #40---->Raven all the time. That would be cool to see.

Also PNP into anything other than Rapunzel would make my life.

It would flow and get more intense. Like taking WWBOM and building on it until it forms PNP to take you into Rapunzel.

Yeah, but WWBOM is just a D&T thing, its not even a possibility.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of segues. However, Dave's guitar is tuned different for PNP/Granny/Rapunzel than it is for Busted Stuff. Dave is a talented enough guitarist that he could play BS in standard tuning but who wants to put out that much energy.

Personally I'd just one time love to see them play Lie in Our Graves through the jam and then walk off as a closer. Then for the encore, come back on for the last part. I think it would blow the roof (figuratively for all the outdoor ampitheaters) off the place.

Thanks, I thought of that after the first time I saw it live. Just thought it would be sweet.
