To make it sound like dave, you really have to keep practicing this one, you have to make sure youre accurate, staying on the strings your supposed to hit and not getting to wild and hitting open strings you dont want to. so mastering muting the other strings with other parts of your hand is key in getting warehouse to sound good. and it is just a constant down up progression. This is my favorite dave song to play.

This song is fun as hell to play, but it's fucking hard getting down that muting. Play it slowly, focusing on the muting, and slowly work your way up to speed. Playing this song at speed and nailing those mutes was a proud moment for me, even though an open string still sneaks through every now and then. One day it will be perfect. It's all about practice and repetition.

Hey, how do you mute the other strings on the way up?

With a lot of Dave songs, you'll notice fingers straight across strings barely touching. That's how he mutes, or where he frets the string his finger will barely touch the X'd strings (muted strings).

This is one of the key factors that makes Dave, well, DAVE!

Another piece of sage advice concerning any Dave tune is you have to play the fuck out of it. Meaning, if you play solo with mostly any other song, playing rhythm guitar of course, you can stop and adjust the timing to your voice and the phrasing can almost be free form, with Dave tunes you must keep strumming and never break the rhythm otherwise you'll lose your place, fuck up the words and otherwise tank.

Exactly. And that's what makes his shit so hard, especially when it comes to singing while playing. There is no substitute for practice.

Friends, brothers, sisters and well wishers! I am so close to nailing this baby. No, really! But I have one more question.....

E:------------------------------------------------
B:--x--x--x--x-x-x--x-x-x----x--x--x--x-x-x--x-x--
G:--x--x--x--7-x-x--x-x-x----x--x--x--7-x-x--x-x--
D:--x--x--11---9-x--x-x-x----x--x--11---9-x--x-x--
A:--x--9---------10-x-x-x----x--9---------10-9-7--
E:--7---------------x-x-x----7--------------------

See the above notes in blue? How do I hit them UP and then DOWN without hitting the E string (the fat one)?? I hit the 10th with my 3rd finger, 9th with my 2nd and 7th with my 1st, so what do I mute the E with? I've no fingers left.

I usually either just don't strum the low E at all or if I have to hit it, I just switch up the finger that I mute it with whenever I change the note. I'm at work, but I think I use my middle to mute the E during the 10, the index to mute during the 9, and the middle to mute again during the 7.

Well Fuk 'a' duck. Is that what everyone does? That's gonna take me another 6 months to master.

I still don't know how to do that when my strumming hand is going at 60 mph.
