Acoustic Amp

Unread post by bighuk » Sun Jun 12, 2005 11:30 pm

I see so many choices trying to get a pick up and an amp and have no idea what would sound good or be suitable for my uses. I'm going to be getting a fishman matrix nt2 undersaddle pickup installed in my Martin DR and was wondering what a good little amp would be to go with for around 300-350$. I'm just looking for something no bigger than maybe 2' tall by 2.5' wide to jam with. I'm looking for an amp that would allow that pickup to bring out a true acoustic sound, some extra effects would be nice but not all that important. Any Ideas? The music stores around here a bit limited on acoustic amps :/

Thanks,
cj

That's what I do. I have the AG-50DS2. I see they hiked up the price on the newer DS3's. :?

Just be sure to know what you want to do with it. If its just for playing infront of your friends sometimes and maybe do a gig every six months it doesnt need to be as badass as the SWR. :)

The Roland Stereo Chorus AC-60 is an awsome amp. You would have to buy a used one for the $350 range. It has a couple of inputs, and I think a mic input, but I can't remember exactly. It has built in reverb, chorus, flanger, and delay. Roland makes good stuff......I think this one costs 500 new.

Schertler Unico

Not truly an amp but this baby is sweet! 180W with built in mixer with both mic and inst inputs. Rather heavy but it sounds heavenly, I tried it with a really cheap guitar with a 15 year old pickup system and it made it sound fantastic! Maybe not in your pricerange but it's something to crave in the future. Mmm...

I'll back up what Ricky and Brock have already said....the Ultrasound is the way to go. The AG50 is awesome.
