Dude, Neil Peart is probably the best rock drummer still alive right now. That man is simply amazing and he even writes the lyrics to all of Rush's songs. And Geddy Lee ain't a shoddy bassist either, even though he does sound like a prepubescent girl...

I'm not sure if you all are too young(or drug deprived), but the Grateful Dead is probably the best live band to ever step on the stage. I saw their last six shows before Jerry died. I think Dave IS the best of our generation(I'm old, so I use the phrase "our generation" losely)...I don't think they ever strummed a chord in their lives...three lead guitars going at once...
Here's where everyone disaggrees and says they sucked...no, don't do that!!!!

Greatful who??? j/k. i was never among the privilaged enough to see them live, i am but a young pup. but i would give my left...ummm leg to go back and be able to see some of the awesome live bands of the 60's and 70's. then id skip the 80's and go straight to the grunge bands of the 90's. cause while i was alive to hear them, i never really got interested in music until the late 90's.DontplayIdidit wrote:I'm not sure if you all are too young(or drug deprived), but the Grateful Dead is probably the best live band to ever step on the stage. My dad is an aging dead head and had the priviledge to go to quite a few Dead shows before Jerry died. I don't know if you've heard of this band Don'tPlayIDidIt, but I got the chance to see Dark Star Orchestra which is basically a grateful dead cover band. But they have it all down to a science. They recreate live shows from every Grateful Dead era, and it's really an incredible show. I would go see them. My dad says that these days he'd almost rather go see Darkstar than The Dead, but that's just him. I'm with Soldier though, I would give any thing on the left part of my body to go back to the 60's and 70' just for the style and the music. It was such an incredible time. I've always believe that the Dead were a very good band, maybe not one of our best, but a very good band that paved the way for some other great acts such as Phish. I believe Phish is the evolved version of The Grateful Dead, and my dad agrees with me. And that's my humble opinion on the whole matter...Appsoldier wrote:Greatful who??? j/k. i was never among the privilaged enough to see them live, i am but a young pup. but i would give my left...ummm leg to go back and be able to see some of the awesome live bands of the 60's and 70's. then id skip the 80's and go straight to the grunge bands of the 90's. cause while i was alive to hear them, i never really got interested in music until the late 90's.DontplayIdidit wrote:I'm not sure if you all are too young(or drug deprived), but the Grateful Dead is probably the best live band to ever step on the stage.
