Crash

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Crash

Unread post by AUDaveMan » Thu Aug 21, 2003 8:21 pm

When I play 'Crash' it sounds nothing like it should. When I listen to Dave play it, it sounds like he plays upstrokes that are not shown in the tab. Can anyone offer any help here? Thanks.

And yes, I'm new to the site, and guitar.

That's the way it sounds too me. Depends on if you're hitting the root note before the chord.

This may be a little stupid, but i think that you might be thinking that you should be playing only one strum per chord? That's what it shows, but the site only shows the chords, you need to insert the strumming pattern yourself. its down, down up down up. the first down is the single chord.

you kinda have to to keep the rhythm and to make it sound right. i really don't use "DAVE'S STRUMMING PATTERN!!!" unless it just happens that way. i play it to the rythm and what sounds right. the most important thing is to play it steadly, you know, don't change your strumming hand rhythm for anything, and hit the root notes when you're supposed to according to the song itself. the rest is just STEADY rhthym. steady being the main word.

my main advice, and some may not agree w/ me. but you don't have to play the song exactly like dave. keep it natural, by in rhythm. if you focus on every little aspect of what dave does, it stops being fun. and music is supposed to be fun. so...have fun :D

I agree with having fun. Put in the song and practice strumming while driving. Thats what i did and I finally got the song. You have to play it alot. dont be afraid to take a break from it and come back to the song later. JON

You shouldn't play your guitar while driving. What if you need to make a call on your cell or eat a Big Mac? How are you gonna do that? ;) :P

obviously on the play while driving
I meant to practice strumming w/out the guitar. like use the steering wheel.
