halloween

Unread post by musicalman865 » Sat Jun 04, 2005 10:40 pm

i know that its been a common thing for dmb to just have stefan, carter, and dave performing halloween. but why dont they just do it with the full band, is there a reason?could it be because leroi and boyd really dont like the song to play it, or they just feel they dont need to be in it and a good chance for a break, cuz i think it would have so much more energy with the full band arrangements. alright just curious.

peace

I'm not sure exactly why they've done it that way recently. In years past they've had the full band do the song. I don't know...anyone else?

well, to me, it seems like a song that is more...i dont want to say "angry" but its more toward that attitude...and to me, and possibly to boyd and leroi, the violin and saxaphone dont quite fit the way theyd like in that song...maybe?

Yep, all speculation. And probably what Andrew said.

i like it with violin though it adds that saddish feel to it at the end, and the spookines at the beginning.

After listening to that version, I think it sounds great with Boyd and Leroi in it. The sax and violin really help to drive the song and give it more of an angry/hurt feel to it.

They gotta have the kronos quartet guest on it for the full feeling.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Halloween it's a fun song.
The way it's played on BTCS wouldn't work perfectly on the stage. and vice-versa.
It's just more powerfull on the power-trio version, and more spooky (spelled this right?) on the studio.

The screaming he does on it is terrible for his voice. I'm sure that has something do with it.

Halloween is also a very emotionally investing song, especially for Dave. Probably why they don't play it too often. Not sure I'd want to relive a past relationship falling apart on a nightly basis.
