Brock, it seems like you do alot of moving around. Not you per say, but rather moving people's threads that are incorrectly placed in the proper forum.
Look at the link below and it is much more clear on what/where to post such threads. I also like how they have a favorites thread...... which is soemthing every noobie loves to do. "Let's start a favorite song thread" YAY. Don't those threads make you wan't to puke after seeing the same topic over & over & over again? It also appears that this is the only DMB related message board that has it's own Stand Up discussion forum. Which would have been great a month ago. This place needs a major overhaul IMO.

The current version of phpBB doesn't support subfora (the new one will but they're not sure when it will be done). But honestly, I don't think adding more forums will solve this issue, since noobs (and it's for the most part only them) who just don't care about reading the forum description, let alone the forum name. I imagine that once we're able to switch to the new phpBB some subfora will be created (i.e., Religious & Political Discussion in nDMB to keep it away from people who don't like it).
They did go a bit overboard on how many separate forums but that's not my point. The point is not to have a Stand Up discussion in every forum. Also, if somebody wanted to find videos on here, well they have 4 forums to choose from. Dave Guitar, Ndmb, dmb discussion, & general guitar. Also, some videos can be foudn in recording & critiquing. Im just hoping for a more streamlined approach. Actually, Im not hoping, it would be nice though.jsgksu wrote:Maybe I just dont like change, but thats a lot of different forums, too many IMO. Some of them would be a good idea, but not that many. And I think an overhaul is in the works, we'll see when the update comes out.
For example. They have media forums, one for audio & one for video. Those can obviously be combined into one forum.
You guys NEED to streamline your audio/video forums. Read above.bbatsell wrote:The current version of phpBB doesn't support subfora (the new one will but they're not sure when it will be done). I'm not really sure what you're asking. Videos to help someone learn a song? If it's a DMB song, it can be found in Dave's Guitar. If it's a non-DMB song, it can be found in genGuitar. Videos found in gDMB should be limited to any videos of the band (although if they're for download or trade they go in the Trading Depot). Videos in nDMB can be of anything nDMB, but not showing how to play a song, as that goes in genGuitar. The way it's set up here is each forum is separated by content, rather than by media type. You won't find every video anyone's ever posted in one forum, because that doesn't help you. What helps you is finding relevant media in its relevant forum. Can you give me a concrete example of what you're talking about?
In spite of not searching through past threads I will give you a good reason why we need a audio/video forum. In the trading depot you have people ISO various videos. But no videos are ever posted there, they are typically posted in the gdmb section. How does this help anybody? The current scenario allows people to request in one forum but videos aren't hosted there.bbatsell wrote:I'm not really sure what you're asking. Videos to help someone learn a song? That is reason enough to stremline the media section. But, wouldn't it be nice to just have ONE specific media place where people can request & host the media? IMO that's all the explaining I think I need to do to show why we need this.
Also, I fucked up the first link. This is there actual structure. Much better.

Sorry, been at the office and just got home. Shouldn't have been posting to begin with. I sort of see what you mean. I still think that separating any media by content is more appropriate/efficient, but I do agree that better labeling and perhaps some reorganization is in order. I'll get with Jared about it, and it'll probably be done around the time of 3.0, if not earlier.
Cool. You working for the summer? You should be chillin at Town lake looking at those tight blondes running by the on the path.bbatsell wrote:Sorry, been at the office and just got home. Oh shit. That place was cool as hell. I took a panaramic phot one day while I was eating dinner and it is amazing. It was during a storm that hadn't approched yet, so one half of the sky was fairly bright, while the other was completley black. Great photo. Im assuming it's gone for good? or until they rebuild?bbatsell wrote:Hah, I wish. Yeah, I'm back home doing IT at a pretty large law firm. The Oasis burned down yesterdayjellyfish wrote:Cool.
