so here it is, im hopin it comes out clearly

i gotta say that i think its great (and the band should think so too) that faithful fans like a lot of the people here are saying "i dont like this album because of...[reason]" and that some are saying they do like it. there are so many bands out there and a lot of them have huge followings who would, i hate to say it, like anything their band played. not to say phish ever played bad stuff, but they could play anything they wanted and no one would say "i dont like it."

so thats what im tryin to say is that its great that DMB has influenced people to the point where they are huge fans (makin friends on a band message board even) yet still have their own opinions and arent brainwashed.

so hats off to people who hate this new album(me) and hats off to people who love it (kanter). here's to fans who think for themselves!
agreed

Agreed. I really enjoy DMB's music, but I'm not going to just lap up every scrap they throw at us, especially if it's not very good.

That's the difference, being able to appreciate good music.

Someone saying you are not a true fan since you don't like the album is ridiculous. That is like someone calling a person that doesn't like Bush a terrorist or unamerican. It's just stupid to make statements like that. You can be a fan of the US without liking the president just like you can be a fan of the band without liking a song or album.

It actually kind of scares that people would just like an album just because it's their favorite band. If you like the album, that's great. Have a reason for liking besides DMB created it.

Good analogy. That's the beauty of the U.S., you CAN dissent without some secret police kicking in your door and killing you and your family.

ya i enjoy being able to discuss stuff with other musicians, i just hate seeing post where people say stuff like "the album is total shit and DMB has gone down the drain. I dont mind people criticizing the album, i just don't like it when thay are extreme. Like on UFCK, alot of people act stuck up like they are some sort of music critique genius and their opinion is the right one, i saw one post that was titled something like "from seek up to stand up: how DMB has gone down the drain.". that just gets annoying, i enjoy the environment here alot more, props to you guys for being a voice of reason no matter what the opinion.
