Re: has dmb peaked?
They peaked around BTCS.ballmeblazer wrote:alright, i know that this should be in the thoughts about stand up, but the more and more i've thought about it the more and more i feel like this deserves its own thread. with that said, do you think we will ever hear another truly great dmb cd? i know that busted stuff came out after everyday, but most of it was recorded already, not to mention refined through touring. so i'm not considering busted stuff a new cd. their last two "new" cd's(assuming we're using the definition of completly new matierial) have been alright, but nothing special. after everyday it was just like, ok, they'll stop using pop producers and get back to doing what they did so well. but then came stand up. so the question i'm still pondering, is will dmb ever put out another great studio album??

yea, i'll agree that BTCS was their best album, hands down. but do you think they will ever put out another album as good as that, or even as good as Crash/UTAD, or do you think they'll just keep screwing around with exotic producers and trying to keep tinkering with their sound? is it possible they've gotten bored with themselves? i'm just brimming with questions
hosting the oscars is like winning the heisman trophy. no matter how you do in the ballgame, or whatever, they can't take it away from you. and even if you kill your wife and an ex-waiter, they still have a hard time taking it away from you

i think they are looking for someone who will change their sound, but in a good way, that can make an album like steve did. now if that person exists i dont know, but if he does itll be a kick ass albumballmeblazer wrote:yea, i'll agree that BTCS was their best album, hands down. but do you think they will ever put out another album as good as that, or even as good as Crash/UTAD, or do you think they'll just keep screwing around with exotic producers and trying to keep tinkering with their sound? is it possible they've gotten bored with themselves? i'm just brimming with questions

i also feel they peaked around BTCS, when you listen to that album it is absolutley flawless in every aspect. i listened to that after stand up (not bashing it) but the BTCS is absolutely incredible.

DMB's music live and studio-wise was at it's peak during the BCTS era, now I understand they had to fulfill a contract with RCA, but unless they decide to work with the right people again I'm sorry, I've lost interest.

No idea.GSRLessard14 wrote:Is there a reason Lanois hasn't produced yet? Has the band or DL said anything?
I beleive that SU was the final contractually obligated release under DMB's RCA contract. If this is true, who knows if they'll re-sign or use ATO records, or if they'll even make more music.
I believe DL is Warner Bros. Records. Could this be the factor? I don't know. It's so difficult to determine whether this union is even possible, everything we say is only speculation.
