talk about a thread change.

and i agree with kanter, that's why i made the comment about elitism before. i think it might sway the board in a new direction of trying to achieve a certain Rank Image instead of just talkin' and makin' fun of each other as it is now.

we'd have a lot of useless threads..but then again, i may be wrong. hehe.

yeah, that could lead the boards to a direction that would make us look like any other board out there. It could possibly lead to more arguements, something that this board doesn't see a lot of, which separates us from the other main ones.

though uh, Mayer Vs. DM, Martin vs. Taylor, Elixers vs. D'addarios, Polys vs. Nanos debates might disprove that point...

No offense to anyone, but I vote "no" on this idea. I think it would alienate most of the boards (Remember, there are only a handful of people with over 500 posts, and only 3 or 4 who have over 1000.) I honestly dont even think post counts are entirely necessary, but thats another story.

i'm hopin' to be lucky 13! haha. but seriously, post counts are fun. they just let people know who's generally been around on here longer or has more experience, and that'll help people trust 'em more when they're needing help. not saying that people with lower post counts can't help, but it just gives a general sense of ease to know you're talking to someone who's been on here a while and hasn't gotten banned yet.

buuuut, with rank images, that's a different story, i think, just because it's added on to the post counts, and so it's not really a necessity, just a hanging commodity.

Well I guess that shows you how much I look at post counts.

I know people would riot if we ever got rid of them, and I'm not even saying we should. I just think theyre a little deceiving in some cases, especially with respect to playing the guitar. But they are fun to watch.
