First song I've ever posted for critiquing- "Six Cigare
I think it's kind of catchy, and hope you dig it.
It's called "Six Cigarettes."

Tell me if it sucks; tell me if you like it.

the begginning is bad... flat out bad... the rythm sucks and the melody is boring. to be honest i listened to this because your username is lyrics and then this had an almost complete lack of lyrics. i feel like at any moment its gonna break into beatie boys style rap.
this isnt my type of music, but it may have aniche out there somewhere... gangsta rap seems to have found a niche where i didnt think a niche could survive

The beginning was supposed to be off, but that's cool. I'm not a big fan of the singer/songwriter genre whatsoever outside of DMB, David Gray, Damien Rice . . . and I think that's it.praisedave wrote:the begginning is bad... flat out bad... the rythm sucks and the melody is boring. to be honest i listened to this because your username is lyrics and then this had an almost complete lack of lyrics. i feel like at any moment its gonna break into beatie boys style rap.

And I do listen to the Beastie Boys a lot.

The bass, beritone piano, and treble piano, are actually playing the same riff. When I was recording it, my friend played the whole bass part, and then I did the piano a half note behind with my right hand a quarter-note behind that.KahnTheRevelator wrote:It reminds me of a Beck song. If everything was on time it wouldn't be as bad, but not my cup of tea. Big cluster-fuck of noise that doesn't have rythym.
Apparently it didn't work.

The sax and drums are sampled. My friends a DJ, it's what you get, lol. He did something cool with it, layering four beats by the end. We actually were working on some lyrical stuff for the middle of it, which is why there's no vocals for a while, but decided against it. I need to shorten it up, cut that out, and have the payoff/buildup come sooner.AdamCU81 wrote:This is a cool song. The timing is fine. I assume most of the sounds are samples....which is what brings this song down imo. It does get a bit repetative....but there is variation on the keys. Overall, it has a dreamy feel that would sound better au natural.
