I'm not going to edit my last post- I feel like I should state this independent of it.

Awesome post; I realize this board only displays a small minority of all the fans this band has, but that's how ALL polls are run.

The coolest thing about this poll, after looking at it, is that the majority of those who respond are in two of the extremes politicaly and theologically that are offered, and all the middle-ground in betwixt these extremes is filled to at least a small extent.

I think its cool as hell that DMB can bring these two together despite Dave's obvious political orientation. He's not really politically bent in his song-writing, so it says something. It screams, "Good music is being made."

I'm a Democratic athiest, and people always assume that means agnostic. It gets annoying, so I can relate with the confusion around that statement.
To tell you the truth, I don't even know what agnostic means. I know what atheist is. On either hand, I can't relate. Sorry

Agnostic is acknowledging that there is a creator or something bigger than themselves.

Agnostics I have met believe that the God of the Bible isn't necessarily THE God. It could be Allah, Muhammed, Buddha, God(the Trinity), Joe Pesci, or whatever.

"Forget about what you are escaping from," he said, quoting an old maxim of Kornblum's. "Reserve your anxiety for what you are escaping to."

OF COURSE, that's perfectly okay!

I'm guilty of being a hypocrite in this regard, I am. Can't deny it.

This has been a pretty cool thread. To be honest, I am suprised by the results. I expected it to be lop sided.

It is does not suprise me that DMB brings all these different viewpoints together. In dave's songs, he writes about things that everyone can relate to. No matter if your young, old, black, white, Republican, Democrat life really comes down to living life to the fullest, love, relationships, and confronting the reality of your own mortality. I think a lot of Dave's songs reflect ideals that all political spectrums can agree with. I think everybody pretty much wants the same thing, people just disagree on the approach to it. Politics is such a dirty game that often times ideals and thoughts get caught up in the dirty side of it.

I don't like being called a democrat, but I'm not a republican either. I voted for more democrats than the latter, but still a few nonetheless. and I guess I would say I'm agnostic.
