it takes practice to strum with fingers
you can get different tones from both
neither is better...one is just harder to get a respectable sound from

you cannot possibly claim that you can strum as smoothly with your fingers as you can with a pick. every upstroke, even with experienced, accomplished, signed musicians, thats played with any semblence of speed either buzzes or does that thuddy muffled noise.Machtimus wrote:you suck at strumming thenpraisedave wrote:i have some insight... dont do it. if youre gonna strum use a pick. otherwise its too smuggly and in my experience is much more buzzy unless you use a flamenco strumming patterndjs488 wrote:perhaps this is just a song we might leave to justin king. I'm not doubting anyone's ability to play the notes, but to get it just right might be a little unreasonable. anyway, I've been playing for about 5 years and am more than adequate with a pick in my hand. a lotta of my stuff has been recommended that i play without a pick, some people say itll make my stuff a lot smoother, but i dun really know how. any advice on strumming, slapping, and such w/o a pick. any sights would be of help too. thanks a lot.
if he likes it then go for it, but he asked for my opinion, my opinion is i dont like it

two different styles. i'm not exactly sure why there would be buzzing. muffled sound can be made i guess for a style
lets put it this way i have a buddy who has been playin for 2 plus years and refuses to use a pick. everytime he plays a harsher or livelier breakdown i cringeMachtimus wrote:praisedave wrote:you cannot possibly claim that you can strum as smoothly with your fingers as you can with a pick. every upstroke, even with experienced, accomplished, signed musicians, thats played with any semblence of speed either buzzes or does that thuddy muffled noise.Machtimus wrote:you suck at strumming thenpraisedave wrote:i have some insight... dont do it. if youre gonna strum use a pick. otherwise its too smuggly and in my experience is much more buzzy unless you use a flamenco strumming patterndjs488 wrote:perhaps this is just a song we might leave to justin king.
