My thoughts exactly, its really died on me. Its kinda sad when Coldplay performing Fix You live on SNL elicits more emotion out of me than anything on my favorite bands latest studio work.

yup i dont think theyll use mark again. i mean carter doesnt like steve for holdin him back how about mark looping a 3 second clip and cutting the meat, its a short album they coulda had him do a solo on helo again, daves guitar isnt heard much. and of the 14 songs only about 3 showcase the whole band, dreamgirl, american baby, and everybody wake up.

and lets face it, the writing is shit, i cant believe the man who wrote seek up and one sweet world also wrote everybody wake up (decen chorus but jesus those verses are shit) and old dirt hill.

I feel the same way, I have a theory that playing the new songs on the summer tour totally played them out for the boys in the band. Then they get in the studio and things are happening so fast, because of all the sampling, that they felt the songs were much better than they actually are. Every one of them, except American Baby, sounds totally rushed and its a shame because these songs have potential. They just werent ready to be put on a studio record.
Its not that I dislike Stand Up, I really feel like its a decent, good-time summer record. But, for a band that consistently makes phenomenal records good is a bit of a dissapointment.

I agree things seem rushed. I don't like how on the dvd when stefan is talking about playing guitar. Mark told him to pick it up, stefan played some random doodle and mark goes "bam, hunger for the great light." Same thing for american baby; boyd plays that lame riff and mark goes "bam, single." that seems like all it was.

riff, BAM, song. riff, BAM, song. riff, BAM, song.

plus thats the way he produces. they get a rap artist or DJ to come up with one good little riff then work around it. It's not a bad thing it's just a different way. Now im not saying that i think it was a great way for this type of band to go but it's how they wanted to go...

exactly, sometimes when songs are writen fast it means their raw, and can grow and with dmb 1. that happens a lot, and 2.it works well.
so i think they were expecting the songs to be raw and grow like the songs last tour. but it seems with all the looping and doing a song a day. they were like "damn this music is commin fast lets throw down some lyrics" so they do and the lyrics come fast because they are liking this quick pace and they lose somethin. now look at the best, not slow writing, but they take their time. some of the singing isnt its best, no one is at their potential, every damn think boyd plays is picked violin. roi doesnt come through plays 2 lines loops, carter, just fucking forget it buy a drum machine kids get your own CB, stefan nothing complicated, just basic taking the guitar dave does on his bass, and dave is not used. christ. we were set up for a lot, 2 old songs comming back, 2 guests rumored to be bela and tim. just a disapointment when its analyzed.
