So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

There's quite a few we could replace him on to many casual fans, especially girls, but it's never going to sound just like him. That's the bottom line.

Have you ever played Dave's songs on stage, with band members playing the other parts, infront of 30,000 people. Youre good, Ill give you that, but I still dont think no matter how good I was, I would say I could replace the man on his own songs and no one would notice.
I guess that's true. I can never fully replicate his songs, seeing how I have my own style as well. But - it is possible for someone not to notice. (I'm not talking about some non musician fan)

Yeah, the casual fan thing I totally understand, theres a few songs I could probably play and the little teenyboppers that scream for Crash at concerts probably wouldnt tell, but most of you would.

Cmon guys, show a little arrogance. Obviously no one can replace him on ANY songs, because, well, they're his. So, say the ones where you think you were playing a lot of DAVE fans (not girls) wouldnt be able to tell the difference.

For me: LIOG, stone (at least the verse), and tripping billies

If you have the verse down for the stone, but not the chorus or bridge...there might be something wrong with you.

hahah, I knew someone was gonna say that ;) . The verse is technically harder, but the chorus uses more finesse, something harder to mimic than just straight notes. the bridge is fine I guess, I forgot about that part. but yea, couple that all with the fact that I've spent so much more time practicing the verse (cuz its hard) than the chorus (cuz its easy), i will stay with my initial post.

And Dave is usually smashed when he is playing them, which makes it soo much harder

For real. I think if he was as smashed as everyone says he always is, he wouldn't perform as well as he does.

I don't believe so. Certainly not near what he used to.

Any of you who are saying most of them (or any of them for that matter) are mostly retarded. If you think you could take over for Dave on guitar and no one would notice, you need your head examined.
He's been playing guitar longer than a lot of us have been alive...and they're his songs so he hardly has to think about what he's playing. There is nobody that could replace Dave without someone who is more than an a very casual listener noticing. No matter how many girls you've impressed with playing ability it just won't sound the same. Not to mention that it won't sound the same without his setup. This thread is basically the same as "what dave song can you play best" with arrogance thrown in.

Or they're better at the guitar than you are.

Gimme Dave's setup so it has the same sharp sound to it, and I could take over on any of the songs that I know/still play regularly. Mostly Two Step, The Stone, and Tripping Billies. Outside of those, I don't play as much DM as I used to.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.

Judging from Dave-speak, yes.

No matter how well I play Dave's songs.. I always hear him playing it even more perfect than I am. These are his creations, and if you can match him note for note, you shouldn't be sitting here BS'ing on a computer.. you should be making records $$$
