Another Stringing Question bitches!!!

OK, I got some new elixers today and was stringing my guitar a different way (the correct way). So I did it how you feed it through the hole in the tuner and wrap it around 180degrees of thje peg and the pull it under and lock the string up.

Well, i snapped my D string when doign it and i didnt even tighten it that much. so now i am pissed my guitar is sitting around with two strings on it and i'm out the $16 for the strings (yeah, new asshole at the guitar shop that overcharges for everything) and cant play my guitar.

So my question is, does anyone else wrap the string a couple of times around the peg and then feed it rhough? That's how i've always done it and it usually stays in tune pretty damn well and comes off very clean without breaking fuckign strings.

So, is my old way bad in anyway? am i a complete retard for snapping my string? Who will be the next president of the US?

i've never heard of your way, but i don't see how it could be bad. i also don't see how it would be any less prone to breaking a string. if you broke a string, then you just tightened it too much and wrapping it around more times won't change that.

I string it up the way you used to and have never had any problems, if you like the old way better, f-it do the old way.

I wrap it around a few times on the thinner strings (like the B and E strings), just to get a better nut to tuner angle.

Anyway, I forgot you might have been buying elixirs. Even if they last longer, i cant really see spending 16 dollars on a pack of strings when I could buy 2 or 3 packs of something else. Its all about how good they sound and if you like their playability.

But i cant see that being the reason your string broke. The time i used elixirs my G string broke at the saddle (which i think might be kind of a common problem with them?) and i was kind of like, fuck that if they're going to break on me that easily.

i refuse to put any other strings on my guitar, i love em.
whats the difference between 6 string gutiar strings and 12er strings?

that sight, the nanoweb 12 string sets are the same as a 6 string pack. can i just use those?

Yeah, since I've started using medium gauge strings, I've had two break close to the nut. They were the g and the high e strings.

But that's also since I've been beating the shit out of my guitar too. I've been alternating between DADGAD and standard more than a few times a day, not to mention the hard playing, and the popping and slapping.

I get about 3 weeks out of them before a break, so I'm happy with how long they last. Too fucking bad that my string broke saturday night, I worked all day today, and now I've gotta wait till tomorrow before I can get some new ones on.

Better bust out the electric!
