Live song from me last night---with band!

Unread post by juineaux » Sun May 22, 2005 2:58 pm

Hey I played a show last night, and I luckily had a couple of musician friends that would play with me on a few of my songs. This is my favorite from the night:
http://www.tomcadaret.com/share/songs/10.mp3

It is a song of mine called rust & bones...except where we jam out near the end and I decided to add in a little of tom waits "gun street girl". I was the singer and played some of the lighter quieter acoustic stuff on this song, and we had an electric guitar player, a conga player, and another acoustic guitarist. Tell me what you think....I might want to try this band thing again-

Nice job. Do you mind sharing your live setup as far as PA's and monitors and tops and such. I love that recording quality and am looking for a similar setup. Anything would be appreciated. Also, do you smoke?

It was recorded with just the coffee shop's PA, nice stuff for a coffeeshop, but nothing spectacular(sm58 for vocals I believe). And it was recorded straight from the board with a mini-disk recorder...which sounded pretty good, but we were stuck with whatever mix the PA had(one track out). And no I'm not a smoker....I get that alot, I just have a raspy singing voice-

I'll second that.

This sounds awesome Tom. How often do you play with these guys? Sounds like you've been playing together for years.
I'm really liking this. The full band setting works really well with your voice. Keep posting.

Hey thanks, I play with the other acoustic guitarist all the time(he recorded my CD). But I've only played with the electric gutiarist twice, and the percussionist 0 times.....I mean we never praticed at all, and I'm pretty sure the guy that plays electric had never heard that song. They just showed up and jammed along to it....they are really cool musicians. :D

Love the jam at the end, the electric work is great as well as the acoustic.
