dave jibberish
hey, does anyone have the bootleg cd titled "swept away 2(kept at bay)?
there is a very old version of the the song "don't burn the pig" and if you listen to the whole song, at about 7min. and 30 sec. dave starts to to just go off in this weird african/drunkin'/cocaine feined speach that makes no sense at all. very weird.

It takes a little more to understand and appreciate Dave's skills. Most people just pass this off as jibberish and say, "oh Dave Matthews sucks, blah blah".
I've always felt that the main reason people don't like DMB is because of Dave's voice. If you don't like his voice, you don't like DMB.

Its that freedom of vocal expression borne from African upbringing.

Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I have a friend who claims that Dave Matthews, "should play a drumset because he's going to ruin his guitars playing the drums on them".c_tietze wrote:It takes a little more to understand and appreciate Dave's skills. People who give something a chance before they decide that they don't like it are fine, but those who pidgeonhole a kind of music as something that they don't like without ever really listening to it are beyond my comprehension. I never get the guitar at parties because everyone thinks I'm going to play 'some Dave Matthews song' - which is why I'm not bringing my Taylor 410ce to the next one.

I hear you. Music snobs are assholes. Plain and simple.
