there would not be a dmb without boyd. and i'm not just saying that in the figurative "oh he is SO dmb" bullshit sense. i mean literally, no band. part of the reason they had so much chemistry together was what boyd added to stuff, have you ever head the story about their tripping billies recording?

boyd was kinda the glue for a while, and also sort of a front man as he talked a lot more than dave did in the beginning.
I love Boyd's playing. Imagine Pig without him.

That's both a blessing and a curse. Boyd adds a whole new dimension to the music, but it makes some of the best songs a whole lot harder to cover

Sounds like it's a curse to you. I play Pig just fine without anybody accompanying me.

I don't have "trouble" playing it, it just sounds so sparse that it's not impressive.

I was only referring to when DMB plays it. I was playing off of the "imagine" if Boyd didnt' exist in the band.

If you want to talk about LS, Roi sounds pretty lousy throughout in my humble opinion. I always make a face when people say that LS is one of their favorites/best shows.

It is my favorite DVD, but not because of roi, who I agree is not at his best throughout the concert. I just like the whole laid back vibe that punctuates the concert. Its really one that you can kick back and light up some chronic to.

i personally think if anybody screws up and makes it sound bad, its leroi...boyd, being out of tune can still sound incredible...the reason he goes out of tune is his plucking and his jamming...fuck putting it back into tune :)

Agreed, it could be Dave commenting on the sweet smells or it could be that I swear I can literally feel the hot, moist air and the chill vibe that you speak of by watching this show.

he can mess up on the lyrics all he wants, it's his song, he can feel free to change the words as he wishes. IMO.

Tim is not perfect either. There is this part during the Live in chicago version of jimi thing where he has his organ-like effect on (like in solsbury hill) during Roi's solo and he is playing in completely the wrong key.

hmm i think id put stefan above carter... and i didnt know butch was so flawless
stefan is very very accurate...and fonzy's bass lines are much easier than Carter's fills
thats like saying drums are easier than bass, or something equally and utterly retarded

and sam, when did he mess up in the star spangled banner? i don't think he was following any guidlines, it was just improv, so unless his hand slipped off the fretboard or something, it looked good to me

Funny how everyone treats DMB like god's.. lordly if they didn't mess up .. I would think they are androids here to take over the world of music..

But one thing I look foward too when I go to DMB concerts is seeing Boyd go hogwild on his solos..

I don't think you would see Leroi go to the edge of the stage & swing his head around and dancing like Boyd does.. Boyd gives a lot of energy to the shows. And it wouldn't be the Dave Matthews Band w/o him.. Period
