one sweet world intro

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

one sweet world intro

Unread post by seth_southerland » Wed May 18, 2005 10:08 am

i couldnt find the old topic so i had to make a new one for this, but i remember the old one and how people were talking about how long it took them to learn how to play it, and i wanted to find that old topic so i could say how long it took me, but i couldnt find it

so

it took me about half an hour to get it down, and i must say that its a really pretty piece of music, and its fun to play, and its really something that we havent seen much of from dave, and i would looove to see more of these kinds of pieces of music from him, they are so cool

i also downloaded the version of one sweet world that he played this in, that is the best version of one sweet world that i've heard, not just because of that but because leroi does an awesome solo while dave plays this part and they do it for about 2.5 to 3 minutes before they start the actual song, its awesome, when i get home i'll post the date of the show so that everyone can look for it, but i know that it is on the warehouse volume 8 cd, track 6 off of there, i think
Hadoken!

I agree it is a very cool part, a lot different from his other stuff. It took me about 3 days to get it down cold.

Another cool intor to play it(not dave's way) is to start the song of with

Code: Select all

E |---
B |-4-
G |-5-
D |-x-
A |-3-
E |---

EDIT: Good call, the tab was wrong.

Instead of 8x10 8

This is how the Cherry Lane books have it. I know Dave does it the way it is on these sites, but it's cool to mix it up.

I agree. You always have to put the caveat that Dave doesn't play it that way on here or risk being flamed. I think it sounds better too.

It's also slightly easier for me to play the alternate chord. Easier + better sounding = money.

Is that time the only time he played the intro or were there others? I have never heard Dave play it. Wish I could.

Dave has played OSW with the intro quite often in the past...hold on and I'll upload an MP3 of it.

I think that the OSW intro is one of my favorite bits of DMB music...

NO, like CMWcall said, He has played the "intro" numerous times throughout the years. The first I heard it was 98 or 99 in Burgettstown, PA.

EDIT: It was 99' first show of a double header.

I have a recording of a Dave solo show from 9/11/92 where dave plays the "intro" to start and finsh the song...he screws it up at the end and then makes some smart ass comment about it.
