Return of the Chet on Stand Up?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Return of the Chet on Stand Up?

Unread post by KevinGTArch » Mon May 09, 2005 7:36 pm

I was just listening to Hunger For The Great Light and the opening progression sounds like its being played off of the good, old Chet Atkins SST from early-era DMB. It certainly could be effects or a result of the mixing but listen to some older shows and ESPECIALLY AATW on the Recently EP. It sounds VERY similar.

Anyone else hear this?

Yeah I thought I read somewhere else, here I think, that the T5 was used just as a prop guitar for the AB video as the rest were already in route to Australia for the run there.

You're probably right. He's abandoned the Chet for so long I'd be suprised to see it brought back but the similarity was to uncanny not to call into question.
If you want to be the popular one at a party, here's a good thing to do: Go up to some people who are talking and laughing and say, "Well, technically that's illegal." It might fit in with what somebody just said. And even if it doesn't, so what, I hate this stupid party.

i think its the godin, good guitars, similar to the chec cause you can use them on stage and get no feedback, but A LOT of sound control so in the studio you can use them too. the one shown in video 1 was the multac steel SA, good guitar... i can listen and tell you if im correct or not because UPS still hasnt fucking gotten here.

I think that Godin sounds like shit on Hunger if that is what guitar it is. Sounds like a shitty acoustic/electric plugged in.

It sounds like the electric part during the chorus is what Stefan was playing on one of the videos. I bet it goes

Dave-acoustic
Stefan-Electric
