James Nash - The Waybacks "Acoustic Mayhem"

Unread post by MrMister612 » Fri May 06, 2005 12:43 pm

James Nash plays guitar with the Waybacks and he is unbelieveably good. I saw The Waybacks live for the first time ever at Merlefest last weekend. They played a 15 minute instrumental that James Nash absolutely tore up like no other. It was by far the greatest song I have ever heard in person. (to bad I don't think they have recorded it yet) They are closest to a jam band than any type of music, but are very original. They have guitarist/mandolinist, fiddler/mandolinist, 2nd guitarist (chet atkins fingerpicking style), electric upright bass, and drums. Ya'll should really check them out- archive.org has some good downloads:

also see thier website: http://www.waybacks.com/

I think the 6th one down is good, but I can't remember exactly cuz this computer at school blocks download sites. Just download the song, Bright Place, and listen to it first, it's pretty good- James Nash wrote it, sings, and plays guitar.

And if you ever see them coming near you on tour, I would highly recommend going to see them.......they are much better live in person than on disc. Sort of like the dave matthews band...
