Damn! I knew I forgot to ask him something! He did say he prefers D'addario EXP lights and his favorite guitar is the DM3MD.
Ok I'm just kidding. You know I've had since 2003 to think about it when we *almost* met him on the D&T tour but the best I could come up with was something along the lines of thank you and asking if they were going to play any of the new songs from Stand Up. At least he said yes and they did so that was pretty money. The whole situation caught me off gaurd as it was pretty much just an accident and lasted maybe 5 minutes tops.
I'm working on re-sizing the rest of the jazzfest pictures and hope to have a link to the better ones tonight.

Alright, here's a link to 24 of my fav pictures from the jazzfest weekend on my website. Other than DMB I found the time to see The Bluerunners, Nickelcreek, BB King, and Galactic. Not a one of them were bad.
Enjoy!

It was pretty much the best meeting situation I could have hoped for. We were originally going to go to the fest around 10am and camp the Acura stage all day so we would have a good spot for DMB. Of course it rained like all hell and we almost decided not to go. The weather eventually cleared so we went there around 2p and tried to squeeze in near the jumbo-screen on stage left. The crowd was too packed there and it looked a little lighter over on stage right. We wanted to hit the bathroom anyways before wedging into a spot so we went back on the race track behind the stage.
As we're strolling behind the stage we noticed two Provost buses that looked strikingly similar to those we'd seen at the D&T shows in 2003. We slowed down to see if anyone might hop off and, as soon as we did, Dave Matthews himself came right off of the second bus. There was literally nothing between us and Dave as he headed to the backstage tents so we simply walked over and said hello. He was really cool, shook hands, entertained whatever incoherent statements we were able to make, and took photos with everyone in our group that wanted them. He's quite the man. We didn't make a HUGE production out of it so the rest of the masses on the track were totally oblivious to the situation.
Other people started figuring it out later so the crowd was a little bigger by the time LeRoi came out but he was also cool enough to take the time to talk to everyone individually and pause for photos. They know how to treat their fans - they could have easily ignored everyone and b-lined for the stage. The last photo on my website pics show the area backstage where the buses were. The photo was actually taken AFTER the show when everyone knew what was up. By that time they had also placed two rows of barracades so we considered ourselves QUITE fortunate. I'm still floored by the experience - a pure case of being in the right place at the right time.
