Hardest intro you can play?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Hardest intro you can play?

Unread post by Tao Te Ka-Ching » Wed May 04, 2005 7:30 am

Hi, new here, hopefully not repeating an old topic.

the question is simple, what is the hardest DMB song intro you can play? (I guess on guitar, but if you play another instrument feel free)

I'm a beginner when it comes to playing "like Dave" and my proudest moment was when I got the intro to "Satellite" down and I could sing along while playing it... another favorite of mine is Lie On Our Graves, but for me (so far) the most challenging one was Satellite, now that I'm tackling Jimi Thing, it's proving to be very tough but rewarding...

cheers.
I am on myspace, are you?

hmm....well, i think there are some much harder parts to dave songs than the intros. but to answer the question...

One sweet world instrumental intro.

it took a good while to get that.

I guess when I started playing DMB that Satellite or The Stone were the most difficult but they seem really easy after playing them for so long. The verse riff from Billies still messes with me occasionally but I just don't play it often enough.

nDMB that hardest I know would be Dwayne Allman's intro on Statesboro Blues. That crap is hard but oh how I loves the slide guitar.

it's really not that hard at all. just practice it slow, get the finger positions, then speed it up. i learned it within a couple months of first touching a guitar

Yeah I learned it in a day. But I didn't try it for about a year or so after first starting guitar. The finger positions are nothing hard at all, its just a really long intro so it takes awhile to get familiar with it. Like Brock said, practice it really slow and speed it up gradually.

I guess the hardest intro for me to learn is Warehouse. I still don't have it down very good, but at least you can tell what it is.
Oh yeah, and I just learned it about a week ago.

Satellite. Took me about a year to get.

Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away
