So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Louisiana Bayou:
Code: Select all
Dave Matthews Band
Louisiana Bayou
Tabbed by Pat McInnis
Intro (Also occurs after the verse)
I might have the timing of this screwed up. It's the right notes though. (It was kinda hard to tell what Dave was doing here; he messed this part up alot.)
E--12----10----9----12----10----9-----
B-----10----10---10----10----12---10--
G-------------------------------------
D-------------------------------------
A-------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------
Verse
Again, variate this.
E---------------------
B---------------------
G---------------------
D---------------------
A--------7--5----4h5--
E--5--5--------5------
Breakdown
I'm unsure about the second half of this. I'll need a better recording where Dave comes through a bit better.
E--------------------------------------------
B-(2)-------------------------------------2--
G--2-----2----2--2-(1)---9--7--6----6--4--2--
D--2-----3----3--3--2----x--x--x----x--x--2--
A--0-----3----3--3--2----7--5--4----4--2--0--
E-----3--1----1--1--0----0-------------------
Jam on the verse riff, and transition into:
This has a ton of variation.
E--5-------7--5--
B--5-------7--5--
G--5-------7--5--
D--7--5h7--------
A--0--0----------
E----------------

Variation is key.
E-------------------
B-------------------
G-------------------
D-----5--3-2--------
A------------3-3h5--
E--3----------------
Verse-ish part:
Dave just plays the G on this part. Just listen, it's just one note. The second guitar/Butch plays this part over it:
E--------------------
B--------------------
G--4----5----6----5--
D--x----x----x----x--
A--2----3----4----3--
E--------------------
Breakdown:
E---------------------------------------------
B---------------------------------------------
G--8----7--8--7--5--7--5--3--5--3----4----7*--
D--x----x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x----x----x---
A--6----5--6--5--3--5--3--1--3--1----2----5---
E---------------------------------------------
*You can leave this out the last time. (Dave does and doesn't on the recording.)

After watching the video, I noticed that Dave doesn't play anything during the breakdown of Louisiana Bayou. What I have up the works though.

I made a minor change in the breakdown of LB. I just changed the e chord to 07x9 because it sounds better.

Just touched up the jam as well, and included an audio clip.

Dave doesn't play at the jam? Wow, I gotta see, cause I could swear there was a guitar on that.
Good tabs as always, thanks very much.

Breakdown, not jam. the "such a shame..." part.
