Unread post by mangold » Sat Apr 30, 2005 9:23 am

I was thinkin about this yesterday and i thought i'd get your input.

who do you think is the most talented band of all time? not your favorite, not best music, most talented.

I have to think its Led Zeppelin... but i do believe dmb is up there.... thoughts?

ive thought about this. and i dont think zeppelin is it. i know i havent heard all the super talented bands out there, but i dont think zeppelin is it. and dmb i dont think is top 10 or however many either. think of al the talent there is in jazz.

so id have to suggest maybe even the flecktones. vic and bela are both top-notch in their instrument. i dont know enough about sax to rank coffin, but hes good. and futch is the best at his instrument(haha because hes the only).

maybe a jazz group like Tower of Power? i dunno....this is hard

i agree with almost all of that, but not tower of power, i mean they're good, but my high school jazz band could play their stuff :? obviously not like them but you know what i'm saying

as much as i like dmb i can't put them anywhere near the top of this "list" - flecktones would have them beat by a whole lot - basically this is an impossible question  but fun nonetheless

GAH????

I think Phish could play circles around dmb, that is if they still played. But it's a matter of opinion I guess.

well im definetly less versed in phish than dmb, but from what ive seen Carter KILLS their drummer... stefan is better, or atleast more outwardly impressive than their bassist... dave and trey play different styles, but they're both clearly talented, boyd and leroi are extremely talented, leroi more so... and if you include timmy?

Okay...tower of power is not a a jazz band. They were a funk band.

The most talented "band" that Ive heard is the Mahavishnu Orchestra. The creators of fusion, but all were trained musicians and made incredible music.

you are all crazy who think the most talented bands are the flecktones and phish.

Ive never heard of the mahavishnu orschestra, but if they're like a full 25+ person orchestra its hard to compare.
