dissapointed in some devil?

Unread post by paywad927 » Sun Aug 10, 2003 10:26 pm

is anyone else a little dissapointed in some devil? when i first heard dave was coming out with a solo album i thought that it would be just dave and his guitar, with guests on one or two of the tracks. now i find out that there are guests on almost every one. trey from phish is on 4 of them, with a bassist and drummer (sorry but i cant remember their names) on a few more. and of course theres tim, which i really dont mind. im not saying that i dont like all these people appearing on the album, its just not what i expected and im just a little dissapointed. anyone else feel the same way?

i think there's a lot of confusing between a "solo album" and a "solo acoustic album." there are tons of solo artists who have a full backing band, a bunch of guests, but it's just that there came to be an assumption when it came to dave announcing a solo album. i think dave working with a lot more different people will add a fresh new twist to dave's music, which might be needed, though some might disapprove as was the case in Everyday. but, dave needs it to grow as an artist, and working with other people is a great way to do this.

I'm gonna wait before i make any opinion..personally i am anxious to hear this new album with Trey on it...especially the song that they co-wrote together...i have a feeling this is going to be very different and very good!

Yeah I am very interested in hearing these tracks with Trey on them. I have listened to a few of the songs, and I am a little disappointed in them, but I have yet to hear the whole album, and will probably pre order it anyway, just because it comes with that sweet D&T 9 song cd.

I read the title of this thread ready to flame, but I calmed down a bit after reading it... how about we wait until we actually HEAR the album before we make snap judgments? sound good?

maybe i didnt make this as clear as i should have in my original post, im sorry for that. im still totally siked for this new album and cant wait to hear it. when i first heard about a solo dave album i just immediately thought dave acoustic. and since that would kick so much ass i was just dissapointed that it wouldnt be just that. i am in no way complaining that there are as many guests on the album. personally i would rather it just be dave acoustic, thats why i was a little dissapointed. again, i am in no way dissaproving of the album. sorry for any confusion.

I definitely didn't assume that it would be a true "SOLO" album, but I had my hopes up that we would hear a lot of just Dave and his guitar. It hasn't shown on the leaked songs, but maybe some others will be more like that. I already ordered it, though, so I'm in high hopes.

Whats better is with some serious phish influence, the songs and trey solos will last like 20 minutes or longer.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away
