He just said that he thought it was one of Dave's best tunes that he brought in, and it felt to Steve that it was a cross between Radio Head and Paul McCartney. McCartney's nick name is Mac, so Steve labeled it MacHead. There was no other information ever said from the band or Steve about it (ther than the track list that was put up during the BTCS sessions, and a lot of the songs did not have names, like Last Stop was labeled Egyption Song, Rapunzle was the Funking 5, Dreaming Tree was Stefan's 7, Don't Drink the Water/Weight of the World/Leave Me Praying was labeled Drop D, and the Stone was Labeled Chim Chimminy.

But me and film really do think that Little Thing/An Another Thing is it. It's a song that has the really mellow creepy feel of Radiohead, and I think the lyrics remind me of soft mccarntey songs that had a feel like Eleanor Rigby. It also started to come back right after the sessions for a little while (that would make sense if Dave was playing it during the BTCS sessions).

Now, many songs have been mislabeld as MacHead that are definately not MacHead. One big mistake one was Reconcile (#56 some called it, but it wasn't their #56 song, so another mislabel). People thought it was MacHead because it was the first new song to Emerge after the Sessions. But then we learned it was just a Intro thing for DDTW that was abandoned, and d&t took it up, and it slowly changed into bartender.

I still am sure that Little Thing/An Another Thing is MacHead. It just makes sense
Thats all great except for the fact that Little Thing was written in 1995. The BTCS sessions when Dave brought MacHead in was in 1998 so its just not possible.
BUT unless steve was big into bootleg trading, and listening to the bands live stuff before there were any live albums. Also little thing is a fan made name that stuck, a lot of DMB songs have come from that, so dave wouldnt really have a name to tell steve... you know what wait, im gonna dig up the old thread.

Nope. Ants was originally titled No New Directions, I believe. Any Noise/Anti-Noise was indeed Say Goodbye.

On a side note, I have a couple of goofy mp3's here. I have mp3s of Kind Intentions and Me & Her, but also one with the music for Me & Her and the lyrics for Kind Intentions. Anyone know what the deal with that is?

I want to assemble a disc of all of the songs dave has written that have evolved and created sort of predecessors. kind of a before and after thing. Often I like his older versions more. I think Satellite was much better as After Her.

Kind Intentions was actualy done in a studio at one point, just as a demo. I forget how many times it was played live, but not many. It was also named #32 til the band gave the name to it Kind Intentions.

Also, any-noise/anti-noise was an early Say Goodbye. How do I know? The chords are the EXACT SAME as the outro to Say Goodbye.

Also, that whole break up thing that you were talking about, that machead was broken up. Well, little thing was broken up twice. Once for Raven, when it was first played in 95 (or was it 96). Raven was just played kind of as an intro to Typical Situations. Then it was part of Dreams Of Our Fathers. Then again for this little jam thing Dave played once called Pregnant Pause (not sure if he was just screwing around between songs or this was another thing he was working on). Then it was a part of Ciggarete Lit. So that thing about the peices, that does fit to Little Thing.

Also, Little Thing, the lyrics to it were always changing, straying from the story it started from, and more into stuff that didn't make sense, lol. So who knows what names Dave was thinking up for the song. Also, when he started to work on the album Some Devil, he said he started with a handfull of songs that didn't work with the band. Little Thing could have been tried with the band and didn't work (same was with Gravedigger). MacHead was obviously tried with the band but didn't work durin BTCS, that's another indication that Little Thing is MacHead. So many things after so much thought and research on dmb sites (like dmbalmunac and antsmarching) point right to Little Thing/An Another Thing. Also, it's very curious that Little Thing went away after a while, then mysteriously came back a little while after BTCS was done.

Also L@LC was released AFTER BTCS, so Little Thing's name wasn't even printed oficially until after all that.

yup. look at when little thing was played. after the first few performances when it was just a few days old in late 95. its been all d+t or solo except 4.played many many times d+t and what not. so obviously dave had an affinity for the song leading up to the BTCS recording session, but it just wasnt workin with the band, thus the large numbers of d+t and solo performanes, with almost no band performances.

this adds to it.
