i play w/ myself and it works just fine so dont laugh.......Toested wrote:I couldn't help it, Andy! The chcukle just blurped out... What do you play? I promise I won't laugh.

i have a buddy who has a crappy guitar and i tried fixin it up for him but i made it crappier. never played a johnson but seen them online for pretty cheap. i guess they are good beginner guitars to see who really wants to learn and who just thought they did. 8)

I started out with a Sunlite 1800G. Yes, I would laugh at the name too. Sound pretty stupid but the guitar sounds fine. Great even for a cheap guitar. I am currently looking into getting a Taylor 110, or maybe a Martin if i can get a good deal. Dunno though I need to play around more.Toested wrote:I couldn't help it, Andy! Hey. I have a johnson. I just started playing about a month before u shane but i had an electric for like 5months (which i still have and is a good guitar) but since i was dave obsessed i needed an acoustic. just to learn how to play acoustic. i have no money being at college. so i bought a $130 acoustic electric johnson. it was wonderful for what i needed. to learn on you can't beat the price. however, don't expect anything else out of it cause the headstocks have a tendancy to fly off from the pressure of the strings. its cause a johnson really is made out of shit wood. but yeah i have about a 8inch crack wrapping around my neck. its going to break soon. so now i'm buying an ALVAREZ. hell yes. you are so right in saying that they are the best cheap line guitar. a $300 alvarez destroys any other in its price range, and even companies like fender that are like $500. (acoustic). so yeah. i'm SO EXCITED to be getting my Alvarez RF20SC. it sounds great in the store...heheheh
"Sing and Dance I'll play for you tonight, for the thrill of it all...Dark clouds may hang on me sometimes, but I'll work it out"
I am a begginer (started playing in June)....because I didn't know if I would like playing or not I bought a low end Alvarez for $125. It seems like a pretty decent insturment for the price.

Hopefully I will be upgrading in a few months....after some more practice. Maybe a Martin 000-1 or a Taylor 110 or 214.

Hey Andy and the rest of the crew, check this out. Here are some good prices on Martin acoustics. I looked at Taylor too, but they seldom have any price breaks anywhere online.
Hey, I hear you about the cheap acoustics when first buying. I bought a Yamaha from Price Club a couple of years back for $150.00. Still sounds great, but I want wither a Taylor or a Martin.
Johnson's though, I have another friend whose first guitar was a Johnson, and we would sit around a laugh about why he bought it. So, that's why I laughed when another friend bought one. It's like he never listened to me when he'd talk to me about buying one. Oh well...

Yeah I'd love to see those good prices...
I did go up to guitar center Sunday and they had a Martin DR with a list price of 998 i think for 600-650 or so. Might check it out.. Still want to check out the 110
I've yet to look at any Alvarez/Seagull/Takamine.. but i need to think about those also.

you dont see NEW taylors online because taylor has a dealer policy against that. if a taylor dealer posted its new taylors online then they could get the ability to own taylors (for lack of better thought for a better term) taken away.Toested wrote:Hey Andy and the rest of the crew, check this out. its new that taylor dealers could even post used taylors online.
bottom line though, i really think its best to go for an alvarez unless you want a high end martin or taylor.. mine was $260 with HSC and it has a solid top and enclosed tuners.... i mean... its an amazing guitar (RD20S)
