So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

jesus guy's, ive read all the tab books and agree 100% with fatjack, i dont see what the big godamn deal is with playing "exactly" like dave does. It doesnt prove that your better than anyone else just because you can play it harder than it has to be. Like fatjack said it opens doors to figuring out maybe the way YOU PLAY IT BEST. Being a good guitar player is about being able to play different styles and widening your musical horizens... not about playing the exact dave fingerings, im not saying that if you play all dave songs exact your a bad guitar player by any means, just open your minds a little bit..its just a goddamned tab book. He was just trying to help someone out get off his back a little...sorry if i was too mean because that isnt my intention at all but im sure that wont matter...

whoah.. Damn.. you need to chill out. I was never on his back what are you talking about? Why don't you just chill the out and actually read the posts before you start your biased opinions on your friend here. I know you are fatjacks friend, therefore you are not even going to try to see something from someone elses point of view, or think about what they are saying instead of ranting on about your friend and how he is right blah blah blah. I never said anything about being a better guitar because I choose to play Dave songs the way that he plays them. That is just the way I like to play them. I never said people have to play Dave songs the way he plays em. That is just the way I choose to do it. If someone wants to play it an easier way, so be it. Thats what they choose to do and that is OK. But it is also ok to play it the way Dave plays it. All I ever said was that I thought that tab books should represent what the Artist plays ass closely as possible.. that is my opinion and that is ok.

So how about you get off my back and quit bitchin.

Jeez. All I was trying to say is that it is a bit of an annoyance when you learn a song one way that you are strongly led to believe is the right way (like the stone), and then find out the published tab-book way is very different. When peole research music differently, they're bound to have slight discrepancies.

That one is DECENT! Not completely perfect, but the best ive found so far. can't wait to see the one that gets posted here. But again, i would recommend the tab book.

That is the best one I've found. Remember to keep the time signature in mind!

I love #34, and have tried learning it by ear, but had some difficulty.

Yeah, Thanks. I found some versions of 34 with lyrics and I was wondering if the song is good with lyrics, like Kit Kat Jam is?

Maybe you should have read mine a little bit closer i was also just trying to send a message to other guitar players that its ok to do some things a little different i never insulted your guitar playing or even refered to you, i wasnt spazing its just impossible to tell some peoples emotions through this thing, anyway my bad and back to 34...

ok......from what i understand, this site is devoted to teaching other guitar players how to play dmb songs the way dave matthews plays them. now i'm not an avid tab book buyer but i did purchase the d&t live a luther college tab-book and i will say that hardly any of the songs tabbed out are that accurate. i have an alice in chains tab book and it proves to be as inaccurtate. its a waste of time to try and back up tab books. sure they show another way of playing the song but i guarrantie that everyone who bought "that" tab book was looking to play the songs the way the original artist played them.
(duuurrruunnnk) i just think that tab books are innaccurate, not incorrect, just innacurrate.

Code: Select all

e-----------------------------------------------
B-----------------------------------------------
G-----------11---6------7--6-------------------
D-----9---9----4------7-----4-7-----------------
A---7---7-----------5-----------5--7--7--/9\-
E--5--------------------------------------------

This is how I used to play it. Its not complete though. Just the intro and verse. There are a few transitions in there but don't remember them off hand. Its been about 8 years since I've played this song.

BTW
You guys are a bunch of little girls arguing over pointless shit. And please don't refer people to tab books since this is a site dedicated to helping people out with tabs. If anyone ever want's a tab...let me know and I will tab it out or find it for you. There is no need to be a dick about it.
