Here is my first posted cover: Tripping Billies!

Unread post by Cor » Sun Aug 10, 2003 11:43 pm

Hey guys,
I have just posted my first DMB Mp3 on my own little mp3.com-type site. I tried to put it on Angelfire earlier, but It just wouldn't work. It is the main parts of Tripping Billies, with the Nature intro. I have only heard this intro 3 or 4 times, so it may be a little off. I am a little Scared to sing, so I left out vocals. I think my voice is pretty low, even though I am only 15, scratchy, and not Fully developed (Voice fails on me when trying high notes). In weeks too come, I will probably have more DMB mini-covers up and some originals.

Please be honest about my playing ability. I have been playing about 3 and 1/2 years. about 6 months acoustic. and have been listening to DMB maybe 8 or 9 months.

yeah...there were some parts where it was a little off. work on the rhythm a bit...and it sounded like you missed a part of the verse, or sped it up or something. the nature intro sounded different...i think you threw in an extra 2 chords at the end of it after the 7--7.

also, when you're doing the chorus, you're missing going down to the 5xx6 chord, and it sounds like youre just hitting the G string.

E:--------------------------------------------------
B:--------------------------------------------------
G:- 7----6----2--4--4/7--6----7----6----2--4--6--7--
D:- x----x----x--x--x---- x----x----x----x--x--x--x--
A:- x----x----x--x--x---- x----x----x----x--x--x--x--
E:- 7----5----2--3--3/7--5----7----5----2--3--5--7--

it sounds great already, but once you finally get it down, it'll be even better! hope that helps. :)

Ok, first of all, thanks for the reply, :D the verse has ALWAYS had me. I can never really hear it that well on the versions I have, and there is no video on the Dmbtabs.com tab of it (can someone get on that please? )

The nature intro, again, was from memory, so I wasnt sure exactly what I was doing. I can work on the 5xx6 chord, never noticed that part was a little off before.

Thanks,
Cory

Here's my cover of billies.

I made sure to do at least 1 verse with no words so you should be able to hear it pretty clearly. Also, don't be too shy about singing. If you pay attention, you'll clearly see I flagrantly mess up the words myself.

Ok, I will give it a listen soon. thanks for the help.

About the singing issue, I think maybe I will give it a shot tommorrow. I need to find the notes, play them on a lower octave on my keyboard, get my voice up and running, and just go for it.

Thanks for the replies,
Cory
