And walnut is one of the most beautifully grained woods around. Just look at that thing! It's like a maze of coloration and figures. It really is a work of art.

Why can't an instrument be a work of art? Steinway pianos, Strad violins and oldschool harpsichords are all on display at the Met museum for their artistic value.

When an instrument combines great tonal quality with beautiful craftsmanship and use of wood, it certainly IS art!

i agree. an instrument can be a work of art, as can anything. i was just responding to the comment you made of "just look at thing." yeah, to me it looks like a 12 string guitar. now, if i were to sit down and play it, molest it, and wipe my giz off it, it most definitely would be a work of art.

It's a beatiful guitar, Dave's isn't a cutaway though, or at least from what I've seen it's not.

Its less than $5000 thats for sure. Its a great guitar and I'm really liking it, just got to get better at playing a 12-string. JTR and Grey Street sound great on it. I'll get some better pictures sometime. Those in that thread posted aren't very good since I took them really quickly.

I had a cheap 12 string and sold it because I didnt play it enough and the intonation sucked. I will definitely buy a quality one someday.

Dave's original 12 string was a D12-28 Martin. He used it first with just Tim. He tried stuff like John the Revelator and Spoon with it. Then before the LWS, he got the Taylor. He liked it more because it's got less or a "jangle" sound to it, and was more full.

At the Tim show last night, he played a ton of stuff on his Martin 12'er... that thing is gorgeous.

Also, Taylor only sells the W65ce.

If you were interested in a W65e (One Dave plays) you'd have to make a custom order from Taylor.
Look up, look down, look all around.
