i just got a new guitar today. its a taylor 214 GA acoustic natural. it was a birthday gift from a few people. i was kinda suprised by it. it has this very distinct sound. its sounds almost like electric. i dont know if i like the sound of it. but i dont know much about guitars. are guitars good if they sound this way?..

tell me if im not explaining this sound well enough

if its an acoustic that sounds like an electric, then chances are it has bad tone. but, i personally have found most taylors outside of the 414 and 714 series to be lacking in tone for their pricetag. taylors are considered a good crossover brand for an electric player to acoustic, whereas brands like martin and larrivee are really hardcore acoustic, if that makes any sense

As far as build quality and such I imagine your 214 is a great guitar. Liking or disliking the way a particular guitar sounds is totally objective. If you have a guitar shop nearby take your 214 down there and compare it to some other acoustics. Maybe you'll hear one that has the particular sound you want.

i love the sound of it for electric guitars. i dont play an electric guitar ever, but i play some electic songs on my acoustic, i love the way it sounds for that. i like the sound of it, but i dunno know if i want something that will sound more to the acoustic stuff i listen to.
