We (Yowza) decided to record two songs from our Thursday night practice last night and we're looking for a little feedback. The levels aren't ideal, but they're good enough to allow the music to be listenable. If you have any opinions (on anything besides levels) please respond. Thanks.

the waking hours is very awkward...its got a good idea...but the main guitar part doesnt seem to fit with the words...in terms of the notes i think. it might be so off that is sounds ok, or so close that it sounds ok...but maybe that second chord causes me to question.
the second song reminds me of the beatles with a little 90s-punk mixed in. no real critique tho, if you like it, keep it.

yeah, the waking hours is annoying. with everynote i feel like the guitar part is poking me in the kidney. it gets much better when you stop with the high plucked notes and the reverb. stick with that.
Escape with me... you posted that before on this site, i believe it was your first recording you posted... man im good. i like this version better than the version you posted originally. This is much better than the first one...
nice work, keep on postin

Thanks for the comments. I truely hope I haven't caused anyone a lifetime of dialysis. I think the awkwardness some may perceive in Waking Hours is due to the use of jazz chords. Muscially it does make sense, but that doesn't change the fact that it's hitting you guys the wrong way. It may just be the recording because the vocals and guitar turned out louder than desired.
Our setup is acoustic guitar and vocals going into a fender amp (we use what we have), out into a yamaha mixing board which is plugged into the computer. The bass goes into a bass amp which then into the mixer, and two drum mics go into the mixer as well. We're still discovering what sounds best recording wise and hopefully in the next few weeks we'll have a "live demo" to shop around to the Boulder clubs.
Thanks again for the comments.

You guys sound good. I enjoyed them both. The Waking Hours doesn't hit me the wrong way - I think it has a pretty nice groove. Your lead singer has a little bit of Jim Morrison in him.
One of the better full-band posts I've heard. Best of luck in discovering what's best for you guys for recording and playing out.
