[RELEASE INSIDE!] DMBTabs.com Joint-Effort Grey Street Cover

Unfortunately many of the parts didn't come to me on time. Anyway, I took what we had and mixed everything down. It actually came out pretty good, in my opinion. These are the participants:

Trippin Hillbilly: Lead Vocals
Roastbeef: Acoustic Rhythm (6 String) & Backup Vocals
billywestom: Acoustic Improv (6 String)
Appsoldier: Electric Chorus Leads

So.....without further ado:

I'd like to personally thank Trippin Hillbilly, billywestom, and Appsoldier for their contributions. You guys did great work.

Okay everyone, let us know what you think!!!
This thread kinda prompted this idea. How about we put together a multi-track recording of a DMB cover with each member adding a particular track? I could start with laying down a solid rythym track. The DMB songs that I know include:

Ants
BOWA
Typical
Lover Lay Down
Jimi Thing
Crash
#41
LIOG
Cry Freedom
Billies
DDTW
Crush
Space Between
Grey Street
WAYG
Bartender

Of course, I could learn something else if we decided on another song. I was thinking about laying down the ryhtmn track while playing to a studio version of one of these songs just so everyone knows when the changes will happen and timing won't be an issue. I can then Email the guitar track as an MP3 to anyone that wants to participate and you can add your track. It really would depend on the song, but I think we could use lead vocals, bass, acoustic improv, electric leads, drums, piano, sax, violin, and maybe background vocals. One DMBTabs.com member per track, i.e. no two lead vocals.

Everybody who's particpating would then Email their MP3 track to me and I'll mix them all down. It may be fun to see how it turns out. I think Bartender would be perfect for this. Anyone else think this sounds like fun?

Actually Trippin, you were the one I was thinking of in terms of vocals... What song would you like to do?

I could definitely do Grey Street too; I'm pretty solid on that one, but I'd probably do it on the six-string as that has the nice B-Band. Perhaps someone can do a twelve-string track too. I have a 12, but no pickup and the PC mic approach won't do it any justice...

So let's do Grey Street then. We can do others if this catches on. Here's who's particpating so far:

Roastbeef: Acoustic Rhythm (6 String)
Trippin Hillbilly: Lead Vocals
isaac: Background Vocals (or acoustic improv???)

Who else is in? I'll do the rhythm track over the next few days and get it ready to distribute. I'll do it along with the Busted Stuff version. As an FYI - I'll need everyone to start recording their track at the beginning of mine (i.e. don't start mid-point in the song) as I'll need to shift them all to start at 0:00.000 in order to mix them easily.

isaac - lemme know which you'll be doing background vocals or acoustic improv...

Any other takers???

Whatever, man. Do whatever you could pull off best. You might need to collaborate a bit with Trippin if doing vocals so you guys don't run all over each other...

Yeah!!! Trumpet would be uber-kewl (how's that for a 30 year-old trying to sound hip... )

Sure. I'll mix the rhythm and Trippin's vocals and you can work off of that.
