Jimi Thing

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

It's fun because it keeps those fingers slapping, sliding and moving (what Ilike in a song) :D

Definitely a fun song, one of the first I learned to play. It seems my hands will automatically drift to playing it.

I have more fun playing Tripping Billies and The Stone righgt now, probably because I just learned them not too long ago, but I'd agree that it's one of his best guitar songs.

It's a song you can really throw your feeling into as long as you're in the right mood. Playing around with accents and pauses. Fun stuff. Also Tripping Billies has nice room to do that.

I've started to really listen carefully to the guitar in Raven from BS (I'm usually caught up in the lyrics). It sounds fun so I'll probably make that the next song I learn. Is the tab on this site like the way it is played on the album?

Hey Chump, do yourself a favor and download an mp3 of Raven from the 10-24 show where it's just Dave. It makes it considerably easier to learn if you strip out all of the other instruments.

to tell yas the truth, I've never really liked jimi thing as much as most of the others. I just don't enjoy playing it all that much. :? dunno why.
I like the What Will Become of Me outro on L@LC though. but don't get me wrong, I still love the song.
good, and you?

I go through stages...back when UTTAD first came out jimi thing was one of my favorite songs...BOWA was my favorite, then ants, then jimi thing...bowa and ants have consistently been favorites since '94 when I first got into dmb, but jimi thing kinda drifted quite a bit, but at times I would get into it, but then at 4/23/02, during a time where I didn't like jimi thing too much, it ended up being my favorite song of the night and I've been digging it like crazy ever since...even when I don't particularily dig the song though I still find myself playing that main riff...just love it.

yeah, it is a drifty one. It was one of the first songs that I listened to a lot and I think I got sick of it, cause it was the one that everyone wanted to learn and stuff. So I ended up not listening to it much but then I would hear it somewhere and be like, wow, that's awesome and then I be right into for a like a week, playing it a lot. then it would drift back away. Dave songs do that a lot. But they also stick around a lot
good, and you?

I dont see the appeal of the song, except the variations leading out of it which are cool.
